Bought one of these 2 years ago. If you just intend on taking it out on lakes etc it's great. Lidl sells a pump to go with it only takes 5-10 minutes to inflate. The paddle isn't great but no multi-peice paddle really is.
I've had fiberglass and rebound kayaks before when you are in this it doesn't really need a skeg as it sits in the water enough to not spin like a normal kayak would.
More expensive inflatable kayaks would be better but if you only intended on using it occasionally and on flat water these are fine. The one thing to remember is to get life vests, most places won't like you being out on water without them and it's just common sense cold shock is real and can affect the best swimmers.

If you take out British Canoe membership £45 if over 22 or £35 for 18-22 year old - it includes waterways licence.

I'm not sure many people worry about a licence...

Problem is with the popularity blowing up through lockdown the government is aware of the potential revenue, so expect people the start getting caught, there are lakes that are cheap one off payments, the sea is free, but has very obvious risks.

If you don't know what you're doing, spend the £50 and go hire some kit safely and then buy one of these 2nd hand in three weeks time when people realise its not for them but got caught up in the bargain frenzy.

And not required in other places. Checked last time before going kayaking in Devon and didn't have to buy it.

    For comparison, the Intex K2, currently £134 on Amazon, also holds two people and seems more rigid and better, but of course you have to weigh up the difference in cost. The stats (this one first) are as follows;

    £49.99 vs £134
    L325 x W76 x H48cm vs L314 x W92 x H55cm
Product Net Weight 8.2kg vs 13.4kg
    Weight Limit 160kg vs 180kg
    Double-bladed paddle: length: 220cm vs 218cm
    No Skeg vs Skeg
    No pump vs Foot pump
3 Year Warranty vs Not Known
Both have stability bars in the bottom

I think, when all is said and done, the Intex is a better kayak, but at £50 I think this one is well worth it, especially with a 3 year warranty, but of course that may not be worth much as they often try to wriggle out of them!

    So go for it!

Decathlon cheapest for ones that will actually save your life.

Avoid the £10 ebay/ Amazon rubbish.

I'm all for enforcing River licences for a barge/powered/big boat, but not for a kayak!

I have had mine ten years but used it a handful of times. I think it was about £49 then (inflation!) Still absolutely love it though. Totally worth it.

I got one this morning, went in last night to try my luck but the lass said she would get into trouble for giving me one early! Was there for the doors opening at 8am this morning and got one, no problem. Big thanks to my boss for letting me come in late as I start work at 8am
Had the kayak in my trolley with a sandwich and a jar of jalapenos. Older guy in front of me looked at me, the trolley, back to me then said 'You look like a Lidl advert'

bought one last summer. had a laugh on the thames with it. I'm 18 stone and I put a pretty good bend in it. wouldnt recommend for anything other than mucking about it..

If someone had come asking after a license i would have popped it and swam for shore... what boat?

The skeg makes the Intex one a lot easier to keep in a straight line and therefore not as tiring

I bought this last year and have been very pleased with it.
It comfortably takes myself (15st) and my 2 daughters (approx 15st combined) so 30st altogether.
The only thing it could do with is a second paddle, not sure why a 2-man kayak only comes with one, but no complaints otherwise.
Definitely invest in a decent pump, either a plug in pump or as I have, one of those Intex Double-quick II manual pumps.
    Sammyp_deals's avatar
Is the pump fitting just a normal inflatable fitting?

There must be a lot of inflation over 10 years with these. Too much inflation is definitely a concern.

I got this one off here at Tesco for £90.

Bestway Hydro-Force Rapid X2 Kayak with Oars, 2 Person £90.

I'm not sure how it compares to these. It seems to be price wise in the middle and a recognizable brand.

For the price these are worth it for a bit of limited fun. HOWEVER, the back restraint for the front passenger is very much poor, particularly if you have any distance to cover. If so, make sure you have a good physio
