So what's with the 1 to 2 month delivery time?

I'm looking forward to when you can get a dropstitch kayak for a reasonable price.

I wouldn't go in the Sea in one of these unless I was close enough to shore to swim back :)

Had one for a few years as I didn't have space for a full size kayak. Great for throwing in the back of the car for impromptu paddles. Good for lakes and lochs which was my primary usage. It did do fine off the coast of Cornwall, but I wouldn't recommend it for the inexperienced unless you are good at judging conditions and can ensure you have a plan in case of emergency.

I stocked up on suncream and it's done nothing but rain since. If I buy one of these?....mmm I wonder.

It's back with one of the lowest prices. A bit out of season, but still a good purchase for the next one.

Another thats had 10+ outings in one of these. Got a couple of them for £67 each a few years back. We've found them great with 1 Adult / 1 Child combo both in calm sea and river. For the price we've had some amazing paddles that we wouldn't have otherwise had. A very cheap way to get you out on the water. Not had issues with punctures on both of ours. I guess they don't look "pro" but they're certainly functional. Stay Safe using decent life jackets (which cost more that the kayak!!) etc and you'll have some great fun, worth every penny. :)

Whatever floats your boat (highfive)

I have a sevylor inflatable kayak and a rotomold kayak that I purchased they both have their good and bad point and both were under £200

:/ you one of those fellas that used it to cross the channel? Refugee you say?!

Bought 2 and used them in the sea in France. Good for the money. Keep a good straight flat shape. Excellent paddles and pump included. Good enough to explore if your not going far. Use them within reason and price scope....ie it ain't going to tour lochs in Scotland but ok for gentle rivers and calm weather sea.

I have used an itiwit 2+1 From decathlon and felt very safe in it and was very stable. But I have just purchased a sevylor Hudson and I love it. You get what you pay for..

Got one of these today and pretty good forbthe price. Already used it on a reservoir. As others commented it is flat bottomed so fine for flat water and had a great time with it. Still a few left in Edinburgh slateford

Just picked one up then read these comments! (horror) if it’s really that bad I’ll take it back

Thank you for taking the time to respond your advice is most appreciated, I haven't bit the bullet just yet as I'm hoping a deal might come along but if it doesn't then the Itiwit it is. Thanks again (y)

I dunno I've met some pretty short paddlers who've pulled off moves in stoppers worthy of Yoda :-)

Never would have taken Yoda for a white water paddler.

Unless you paddle a lot of white water in which case the phrase 'less than 3 should not be' gets bandied around a lot. I certainly won't paddle with less than 3 people unless it's a very easy grade 2 river or flat water.

Well it was not a joke to me. My mother, who in my opinion over-reacted, actually sent me away to live with relatives after one, fairly minor incident.

You missed the joke there I think! He was playing on the Prince of Bel Air Tv show theme lyrics.

Sadly that is true, I used to live there as a younger man and it was vey relaxed. I remember long care free days on the playground, hanging with friends and playing basketball. It all changed though

These are garbage, ok maybe not that bad they are a bit of fun but they don't even compare to models like the sevylor adventure or wabashi, or even the itiwit ones from decathlon. We've had several of these and having tried the more expensive versions we'd never go back.

This photo is from last year, my wife and daughter on the left with the adventure and me and my son on the Wabash on the right. I'd say the adventure is faster in a straight line but the Wabash is more stable, easier to manoeuvre and generally more comfortable.

These are a good product, we have the newer blue version but the seats are useless, they don't take any weight, not a deal breaker but worth noting, ours came with two paddles which can be split into a single kayak style paddle. These are not the usual cheap pvc outer, they have very strong fabric around the whole canoe. Personally if your budget can stretch it I'd get the sevylor wabash or willamette from decathlon as they have more of a kayak design and significantly better seats. All that said if you buy these and get hooked like we did then you'll end up getting solid anyway and these will end up on eBay.

Or maybe you should grow a pair and stop looking for trouble where there aint no trouble. Stop being so politically correct -- its one of the reasons why this country has gone down the crapper.

Do you like using the "word" that you mention? Or do you agree that your quote maybe of bad taste to some people and unnecessary? I of course meant an emergency whistle if in fear of drowning. Very poor taste.

Not if you were drowning. Do you take every literally? Judging by your quote you are drowning yourself in whisky and a complete TW#T.

Anyone been out on theirs yet?

Purchased one today, still had several available in Newtown.

Managed to pick one up this morning, only just though as it was a bit of a stampede with people running to grab two or three at a time and they were gone within two minutes of the store opening. Seems well made and great value. Ideal for a paddle with the kids in calm water, also makes the comfiest sun lounger ever!

I've only just seen your reply, thanks for the advice! I'm in the process of buying my first house so am only just becoming in the position where I can store something like a Kayak. I'd probably go for a proper one rather than an inflatable if I do go for it, although I guess an inflatable may be a cheaper way to try it out and see if I like it. I frequently see people paddling down the river near where I live, it looks so peaceful and something you can enjoy alone. Thanks again :)

for a license you can also get one from the canal and river trust website for a day, week, month etc but the website isn't giving the prices just now.

This is normal for thomson flights as they mainly cater to chavs.

Are Cancun still making tourists using Thompson pay £40 exit fee? Was gobsmacked we had to pay that as it had never been mentioned before.

Really good deal. I used Thomson last year to fly to Cancun and I was really dreading the worst using them. The worst thing about the airline was the on board food and the other customers who were very poorly behaved - people were going from one aisle to the other by climbing through the centre rows! One passenger was rudely awakened by an idiot slapping his leg to move him aside so he could climb over. I would fly with them again but if BA was a tad more I would fly with them instead.

I think he was trolling for a reaction This is a decent deal but not uncommon, Thomson & Thomas cook runs similar deals all the time, especially to Caribbean and like this you need to find a lot of accommodation.

Why don't you trust Omega? I've booked flights with them before and not had any problems

I do travel to Doha quite frequently because my girlfriend lives there so I know that flights from the UK to Qatar are not cheap. You could get cheaper flights with Oman Air or Gulf Air but you need to change at least once. And Pegasus have a worse reputation than Ryanair and they're often late or their flights get cancelled so I'd not use them. I get it that it's a good price for a business class flight and you can collect a huge amount of Avios and tier points but you still need to get to Doha somehow. Maybe we could start posting deals on flights from Dallas to Johannesburg or Vladivostok to Shangai.

Why? Why do people comment on things they have absolutely no clue about :/

You're right. A skeg does make a big difference in keeping an inflatable kayak in a straight line and this kayak doesn't have one but it should be ok on fairly still waters with a slow current and on calm days with little wind. I can't comment on this kayak as I believe it has 5 air chambers to pump up but the Explorer K2 only has 3 and takes no more than 10 minutes to inflate everything with the supplied two-way pump. It's the deflation and drying off that takes longer as although it has two boston valves in the hulls, the floor panel doesn't have one so the valve needs to be squeezed to totally deflate it in order to fold it up enough to fit back in the bag.

It is a shame Lidl don't also sell flotation devices as well (i haven't checked this time, but they haven't previously) to emphasise their need, as I'm sure less informed people will just see this and pick one up without considering them. Self-inflating life jackets per se are not necessary. Amazon occasionally have good deals on PFDs and paddles (other retailers are available!).

Yes, the skeg makes a difference, or rather the lack of one (learnt the hard way). Rather than upgrading to a better inflatable (this is good for the price, though), I'm looking to just get a rigid one - inflating and deflating is a real faff and I have roof bars anyway.

I have the Intex Explorer K2 as well. It is more expensive but I think it is definitely worth the extra cost too and unlike this Crivit kayak, you also get a two-way pump, two dual-action paddles and a skeg fin included.

Perfect timing for anyone going to the Glastonbury festival !

Was it comfortable?

Having now used the K2 down a tidal river with someone in a 'proper' kayak I have now decided I need a proper kayak. That said, it was a harsh test as it was also a bit blowy, and a proper kayak is a lot more expensive. For the money it's a cheap way of trying kayaking and if you like it in an inflatable you will love it in a proper kayak.

As I own both challenger and explorer now I can confirm the Explorer is the better one. Reasons: Challenger feels less stable Challenger doesnt have a drain bung so you have to climb into the ends to dry the nooks and crannies out. Challenger has a better design on the fixing for the skeg but performs the same as Explorer

I think wind is the key factor with this. A fair offshore wind can make it more difficult to paddle in.

Unless you are in Scotland where you can paddle almost anywhere you fancy. Though wear a bouyancy aid. :)

First launch today on a beautiful clear river in the South of France. Great stuff, good quality, tough enough with a few scrapes in the 'rapids', three up (we're all light and good swimmers), and a great blast! Very stable, and quick to inflate with the supplied pump. Deflated with a 'reverse' 12v pump in the car, and got it back in the bag/box easily. Nearly paid for itself already (compared with the local kayak company rental rates..).

I let my other half deflate and repack it, she said it took ages and was nearly impossible to fit back in to the bag. We normally avoid trying to repack things like tents etc. back in to the bags as a team...normally leads to domestics lol :P

Received ours last Tuesday and used it for the first time today. Inflated in about 10 minutes without rushing it. Impressed with the quality of it, very thick material and well able to cope with a rough pebble beach. It seems very stable in the water as well, we are near complete beginners but had no issues using this. Price at Amazon is £77 now, but I would still regard it as an absolute bargain at that price too. Best £67 I can remember spending.

Same here. Took a few photos of my son kayaking the lawn in the banana without a buoyancy aid in sight then put it back in the bag ready for the lake district trip in July. It took longer to deflate completely than it did to inflate, mainly due to the lack of a boston valve in the floor panel and having to squeeze the valve to let all the air escape before it could be folded properly.

got it out today, pumped it up and sat it out on the lawn. No buoyancy problems and did not need to be rescued. back in the box you go. 8)
