Careful with these, I ordered 1 last week and it was DOA, the 2nd one worked for a few hours and then also went DOA so not sure if Amazon has a bad batch or if i'm just unlucky and got 2 bad ones. Apart from that they're great drives though as I already have 1 of them in my system and was intending to add to it. But now I'm left waiting for a refund from Amazon as they decided to use Evri as the return courier for the 2nd dead one (they used RM for the 1st) and it's been a week now and not moved whereas the other 1 is back with them. Guess which one is the one with my money tied to it? All who answered Evri give yourself a round of applause!

I would still order without worry. Crucial have always had excellent customer support in my experience. And every product has a couple of duds that slip through. This is a quality tlc nand drive with dram.

Why would someone buy this when a 4TB nvme is cheaper and way faster?

Older motherboards do not use nvme and you can put a lot more sata devices on a more modern computer than you would nvme ssds.

You might also be comparing a low grade nvme to this high grade SATA. (edited)

Samsung QVO 4TB is currently £253 if you wanting to pay a bit extra for Samsung drive

MX500 is a better choice than QVO, MX500 is TLC and QVO is QLC

Since I put a 4tb samsung evo same as this drive in my gaming comp, I haven't looked back, So nice to have plenty of space for steam games etc as you have to leave about 20% empty for the speed etc. Which can be lot on a smaller drive. HEAT

Sorry mate, time travel jokes aside. The going rate for these at a good price are £200.

Worth getting now or waiting for it to drop to around £200 again?
    Warrhog's avatar
If you need it now it's still not a bad price. If you can wait - wait - eventually it will drop.
