How to Win Friends and Influence People' is one of the first best-selling self-help books ever published. Just after publishing, it quickly exploded into an overnight success, eventually selling more than 15 million copies worldwide, and pioneering an entire genre of self-help and personal success books.

With an enduring grasp of human nature, it teaches his readers how to handle people without letting them feel manipulated, how to make people feel important without inspiring resentment, how win people over to your point of view without causing offence, and how to make a friend out of just about anyone. Millions of people around the world have improved their lives based on the teachings of Dale Carnegie. This classic book will turn your relationships around and improve your interactions with everyone in your life.

Dale Carnegie (1888–1955) was an American writer and lecturer and the developer of famous courses in self-improvement, salesmanship, corporate training, public speaking and interpersonal skills.

He was born in an impoverished family in Maryville, Missouri. Carnegie harboured a strong love and passion for public speaking from a very early age and was very proactive in debate in high school. During the early 1930’s, he was renowned and very famous for his books and a radio program. 'When How to Win Friends and Influence People' was published in 1930, it became an instant success and subsequently became one of the biggest bestsellers of all time.

Carnegie loved teaching others to climb the pillars of success. His valuable and tested advice was used in many domains and has been the inspiration of many famous people’s success. One of the core ideas in his books is that it is possible to change other people's behavior by changing one's reaction to them.

    Maybe part of the curriculum?

I read this about 30 years ago and considered it entertainment for the average person and conversely a self help guide for sociopaths.

    Sounds perfect for modern society.
And a farce for anyone decent

Be careful with this book. Depending on the reader it could send you down a rabbit hole that is hard to escape from. Either it will be helpful, or it will make you manipulative and insincere or it will turn you into a door mat. It's a valuable book but I suggest you find and absorb some of the negative criticism first before reading it, then at least you'll be aware of the traps.

Dale Carnegie would be spinning in his grave seeing how social media is helping manipulate people.

I've been recommended by 3 different people, all 3 of them are some of the worst people I have ever met. No one likes them... So I'd recommend you actually don't read this book.

I didn't get where I am today by making friends and influencing people. What the eye doesn't see is goose for the gander. One, two, three, four - make 'em wait outside the door. Five, six, seven, eight - always pays to make 'em wait. Nine, ten, eleven, twelve - come!

I was recommended to watch Young Sheldon (ok I'm way behind the times) and just got to the episode where he reads this book. Y'all probably know it, but I thought that episode told me all I wanted to know about it!!!

"I could practically destroy this firm if I started caring about people. I didn't get where I am today by caring about people."

"I didn't get where I am today by using and discarding people like old socks."

So they need books now that tell people how to be respectful, kind and friendly.
Or maybe this books just tells people how to manipulate others
Thats not friendly, respectful or kind. (edited)

    Now?!
it’s nearly 100 years old and yes, I think 90% of the UK could do with reading it tbh. Don’t care if they’re trying to manipulate me if it makes people seem a little self obsessed.

Clicked the link. Amazon decides I need a new password. Ok I put email. Ok they still need either my phone (which is an old number I don't have access to), or click the notification. Notification did NOT come! The only other option is CS. Ok 15min later notif came! So I changed my password. Then it says "account registered to amazon.com, please go there to shop for books". But ofc it's NOT free on US store Then I try to do it on PC and it offers to transfer accounts. Why did it not offer it on mobile, why??

Imma sell my Kindle and Alexa, I swear💀 my experience w Amazon was always full of shenanigans, and weird restrictions, and why don't you get all Kindle features when you upload a book from elsewhere??
