Details

This compact yet powerful 10-litre dehumidifier helps create a healthier and more comfortable environment for medium-sized rooms. It removes excess moisture and humidity that can encourage the growth of common allergens, damaging your home and health. If the humidity is too high, then your home is at risk of mould, but airborne viruses like flu can survive longer if it's too low. Thankfully, the CD10L allows you to select your desired humidity level so you can find the perfect balance between high and low that best suits your home.

Once the water tank has reached its full capacity, the unit will automatically stop running to avoid overflowing. A full water light will then appear to indicate that the tank needs emptying. The CD10L can also be set up for continuous draining by connecting a hose into the drain outlet at the back.

The dehumidifier is perfect for use at night when sleeping, thanks to its low noise level. There's also a timer function that can be set to switch on/off at a convenient time automatically. So you can have it run while you're sleeping, at work, or during an off-peak electricity period to reduce operating costs further.

Humidity control

Set your desired room humidity with Laundry Mode, set and forget easy Auto Mode or use the humidity selector. The unit features a cleaver light indicator to show the current level of humidity in your room.

As the humidity level reduces, the light on the front of the unit changes colour from red to orange to green. It's perfect for monitoring the humidity and auto-adjusting the fan speed accordingly to help save on energy usage.

Laundry mode

Use the handy laundry mode to significantly reduce the drying time of damp laundry indoors. This clever little feature will benefit your energy bills too as its more efficient than using a tumble dryer or central heating alone.

Lightweight and easily portable

A carry handle and castors make it easy to move the CD10L from room to room. It’s lightweight too, so taking it up and downstairs is a breeze.

Low noise level

Great for use at night, this dehumidifier has a low noise level of just 43dB. Get a peaceful night’s sleep while it works quietly in the background.

Anti-odour carbon filter included

The unit includes an activated carbon filter that absorbs and removes everything from allergens and pollutants to unpleasant odours, leaving fresh breathable air.

There are basically two types of dehumidifier, the compressor type (like this one) and the desiccant type. With the compressor type the energy is used to drive the compressor and the fan. The compressor will cycle on and off and you get a audible clunk when a compressor kicks in. With the desiccant type the energy is used on heating a water absorbing material and also for the fan. Desiccant types do not have the audible clunk that compressor types have. Desiccants will use a bit more power than a compressor type but the big bonus is that they will output quite a bit of heat. That’s undesirable in Summer but if you intend to use this to keep your windows dry in Winter then the heating action is very desirable. We have one on our upstairs landing and it really does add warmth to the upstairs whilst keeping the windows clear. (edited)

I've achieved it with 12l compressor plus it's a bit misleading by saying that desiccants will use a bit more power...it's nearly double or even more. My 12l compressor uses 150W per hour and I don't think you will find desiccant same size with wattage under 300...

Maeco 8l desiccant uses up to 650W (edited)

Every time a dehumidifier deal is posted, I see people asking about drying laundry with these.
Sure, these will help with removing moisture from the air, which obviously translates to a little bit of help with drying laundry, but they will not replace a tumble dryer or be anywhere close to one, if this is what people are hoping.
So if your main reason for buying a dehumidifier is for drying laundry, don't buy one expecting it will do that in one hour.
It will only help, but they're not especially built for that purpose, even the ones that have a so called "laundry mode".

For people who do not have a tumble dryer, without an outdoor hanging space, or in non drying weather..these are very useful. You could dry clothes on radiators, but adding humidity to your house makes it more expensive to heat, and risks mold etc.
i put an airer full of washing in the unheated bathroom, with my dessicant de humidifier set to low, and its mostly dry in 5 hours, at a cost of 60 or 70 pence. A typical tumble dryer, whilst quicker and more convenient costs about 150 pence.

The Which? review gives this 52%
"It didn't do a spectacular job in our lab test at extracting water at room temperature. There are other dehumidifiers which perform better."

Can take 4 or 5 hours to dry laundry depending on the amount but at 10p an hour why not

were having big probems with condensation (leading to mould) on our windows upstairs - would you have to put one of these in the rooms that suffer with condensation or could you put it on the landing and it will still work for the bedrooms if the doors are kept open?
    Malabus's avatar
Landing...and get a decent size dehumidifier : the volume of water it draws in a certain time. Personally I would avoid this dehumidifier.

Been browsing dehumidifier for two months now and just waiting upon stock…

my sons got breathing problems so bought a Dyson fan hoping it would purifier hair.. but doesn’t really do much … Dyson and gryometer read humidity at 70/85% 17c..

now looking at meaco 20l arete or the 20l low energy platinum…. Not sure which is best.. assuming the arete is just a newer model?
I’m looking at getting the 20l one instead of 12l, hoping that the bigger one will run for less time and reduce humidity quicker
    Alex_Pearson-Jones's avatar
I got the 12l last week in a 2 bed apt.

Just leaving it on laundry mode for 10hours a day has helped bring 80% in the evenings down to high 50's in 10 days.

Just thinking and discussing about Humidity problem in the house and why some people buy these things
My thinking yes they work but with high energy cost and noise

1 Dehumidifier works by condensing from " hot " air water on cold tubes "like freezer " So efficiency Dehumidifier will depend by air temperature more higher temp inside room then more efficient it will take out condensation form air
2 To do the job it is need 24 Hrs circulate air and on manufacturers web site power usage 280 W
    280 W x 24 Hrs = 6.7 Kw aprox of electricity 6.7 x 365 Days = 2445 kw / Year / 12 = 203 Kw / Month x £0.40 Elec = £81 Month

Long time ago I have checked one of my rooms and winter time humidity 75% and outside humidity 85% at this time and I do not like this as 75 % humidity inside is issue as this is very high
So long time ago bought 10 L Dehumidifier from B&Q and try for couple days left on all night thinking that now in the morning will find lot of water inside Dehumidifier and was nothing maybe couple drops etc and all night it was working as the fan buzzing all night
Then left another day and same no water . After week return back to B&Q as not working for refund

No question my self why it does not work where is the water why someone getting so much water inside but not me ?
Dehumidifier was working , but efficiently was very bad because at night my heating is off and inside the room temperature drops to 17 maybe lower and drop of temperature cause of condensation plus windows let in cold air from outside as they was old and seals not sealing properly

My problem is fixed by Change windows and loft insulation and heating constant temps "not before heating then stop heating etc " and my bill same as before you think that heating to constant temp will increase you bill yes it is if you heating outside

My point to Dehumidifier yes they work and they will do the job but first you need to find why you have humidity in the first place inside the house and fix the issue not try to temporary patch the problem

Dehumidifier use electricity and it is not cheap why not instead spend these money on central heating by increasing 1 degree your room temperature and if you need ventilate the rooms instead

I want in future "actualy looking now " to install air circulation system where house will be refreshed air couple time in day The same effect can be done by opening window and left fresh air in
    GeeWhizRS's avatar
The source of moisture is breathing, showering, drying towels, cooking etc. You can't do much about that apart from using a tumble dryer (expensive) or ensuring decent extraction when cooking. Even with that sorted you'll still have problems with moisture from breathing. Moisture will always show up on the coldest part of your house, that's usually the windows. Your suggestion of an air circulation system is a good one. If you go down this route, have a look at the ones with a heating element so it will warm the air pulled from your loft.
When talking about humidity outdoors, be careful not to fall into the trap thinking that the air is moist outdoors in Winter. The humidity level is only high because the air is cold and it can't absorb the moisture; it's actually dry. That's why you get dry lips in Winter.

Ideal to drain externally if possible know I use mine to drain into the shower tray instead of emptying tank collector

I have the meaco platinum and an electriq 12l low energy
Both are outstanding ,atm I'm only using the meaco because it keeps my rooms dry ,wouldn't look at any others tbh
Iirc the meaco uses between 180/270 Watts and the electriq uses around 200watts
The amount of water the meaco pulls out is unreal ,I probably empty it every 2 days when it's set at 55%

My drier has died and I was thinking about getting a newer dehumidifier for laundry purposes. Looks like these use 240w power, but I wonder how long they will take to dry clothes.
    rrr99gp's avatar
Depends. If you put it quite near by than it would probably be maybe 25% to 50% off the usual time. but it also depends on lots of other factors such as your heating, outside temperature and obviously, surrounding moisture inside. (edited)

I’m looking for one but concerned that the 10l ones will only be big enough for a bathroom. I really need it to keep my bedroom windows from being wet through and I have an en suite attached that has the same issue. Wondering if one of these will be enough to do both rooms at once? And how long would it take to clear the condensation? :/
    Susan_Calver's avatar
I'd always recommend you dry the windows, rather than wasting money using the dhmd. Even if I run the dhmd 4 hours in our bedroom, windows will still be wet again in morning. Dhmd does keep the bedding from feeling damp and reduces mould issue.

I will be a little dubious about a dehumidifier with only one year warranty while the norm is normally 3 years+. Good price otherwise.

I have bought from them, but not recently. Products were delivered when they said and worked. Cant tell you anything about their customer service as I didnt need to use it so I looked on trustpilot. Mostly reasonable reviews but some people have had issues with customer service and they dont reply to bad reviews on that site.

I would recommend paying a bit more to get a Meaco. We have had one in the garage for about 5 years and it has worked flawlessly. The only time it stopped was when the ambient temperature dropped below -10C.
    sam.hkud's avatar
There are no any models . Which model do you have?

Not so cheap, About 2 weeks ago I have purchased dihumidifier up 25l /day 6.5l tank for £115 with cashback on manomano
    GeeWhizRS's avatar
When comparing the litres per day figure be aware that some manufacturers quote figures where the ambient temperature is very high which give misleading figures. Decent manufacturers will use 20C.

I’m looking for meaco arete 2in1.
  21. Quicklite's avatar
Assuming 6 hours usage per day, 5 days use per week, £0.34 per kWh electricity (and constant 0.24kWh power usage), that's £127.296 a year.

If you only use it for 1/2 of the year, it's just under £64 per year running cost. Not horrifying as I thought. (edited)
    Incognitoso's avatar
It is not how much time you use ---- it is more how quick your humidity levels will drop to your goal

Maybe it is only need just 2 Hours on 23 Degree room temp from 80 % humidity to drop to say 60% so then it is only will be 2 Hours per day
  22. muscle21's avatar
WARNING. Just read the question and answers from their web site. The company confirms it can be used in a bathroom. IT CANNOT AND MUST NOT BE PLACED IN A BATHROOM because there is a risk of electrocution. If you must, leave the unit just outside the bathroom with the door open and plugged in away from bathroom
    smudgerama's avatar
I would not keep one in the bathroom, but place mine in there just to dry laundry, plugged into an extension cord outside of the bathroom, then removed when done. There is no danger of water exposure to the unit, just humid air..which theyre designed to cope with! Obviously taking a bath or shower whist in use would defeat the point!
