I'll go against the grain here and say it's pretty bad.

The graphics / sounds are poor, the physics are poor so are other road users, the roads are not like actual road designs anywhere and it's nothing like driving a wagon. I honestly don't see the appeal, it's a pretty boring "sim".

    THAT SAID....

I did use it to help me practise backing onto docks before I passed my HGV test, so kind of owe it a little bit of thanks for my current life (no social life, loads of hours at work, some money in the bank)

I did about 100hrs on this before passing my Class 1. Living the dream for real now. I'll say it made me very aware of the size of the vehicle as you hit everything in it. Definitely need a ETS 3 at those point though. It's more the gameplay than the graphics in this game. I do wish it represented more real life locations like train simulator.

Thanks. I couldn't get the demo to work on the steam deck. Hopefully the full version is ok.

I had the same problem, the controls wouldn't work on the demo. I bought ETS2 last time it was on sale and the controls worked

this game got me into wanting a better pc, leading me to learn about pc components etc

i dont play the game now, i did sink in quite a few hours, but to be honest everything gets repetitive and boring, still worth picking up on sale.

BUT i never used this with wheel/gears/pedals setup which im guessing is pretty awesome

I got Euro truck simulator 2 when that was on sale, but instead of buying the dlc I'll get American truck simulator and that will be my dlc instead, thanks.

Which is better for a first time player of such games? Euro or American?

Both about the same really. Just differente scenery and loads to haul. Although driving around America is pretty cool. Some of the EU locations are nice to drive through. Get both

Do people use a wheel or controller or keyboard and mouse? Any recommendations for wheels and pedals? Or only wheel needed?
