    These are great with laptops & tablets (IPad etc) but they do not play nicely with phones (in my experience).

    I have 2 different branded card readers and both stopped working with my galaxy note 20 ultra. They used to, but suddenly stopped. Although they work on my laptop.
    I was thinking of trying this until I read your comment.

    This is the one I bought. Works on my laptop and ipad but not my note 20 ultra sadly.

    Don't recommend these at all. The one I have kept reconnecting instantly after ejecting it so it was impossible to safely remove any micro sd's. Stopped using it after a while because didn't want to break my sd cards as kept having to repair them when using this.

    Safest thing I can think of in that scenario is to shut down the PC etc then remove the dongle.

    I feel like phones and tablets should just by default be the USB host these days. I can’t remember the last time I plugged either into a computer.

    This worked for a couple of seconds on my wife's S21 Ultra then failed to work on that phone or my Poco F3 or tablet with multiple micro SD cards
