my old desktop is IVYBRIDGE i5 3330S with 8gb ram and gtx 650 P8H61-M PRO
i have got some ddr4 ram 16gb and a few nvme sticks to build a system with , what would a be a decent budget build , a little light gaming watching flms encoding and light office stuff invoices etc

Do i go ryxen or intel..i don't think I'm going to loose to much sleep on different generations
Would want nvme and latest USB

No cpu with onboard graphics ( £50/80 ?.) (edited)

Ryzen 5600G and a B450M (if NVMe is PCIe 3.0 although some BIOS updates might give you PCIe 4.0 capability) or B550M motherboard if you want PCIe 4.0 capability out of the box. Both platforms support 10Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 and some B550M motherboards support 20Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2x2.

Depends on your budget, but 5600G or 5700G along with B450M or B550M motherboard will do the job.

Should I go for this and build an Intel PC, or go for this: amazon.co.uk/AMD…c=1 and build an AMD PC?

not a lot of difference between them to be honest, down to your preference. myself i'd go for the 10100f.

Remember, before AMD started to offer actual CPU competition, Intel wanted well over 200 quid for the level of 'performance'. And at the time, Intel friendly tech sites (ie., all of them) stated that the price was 'good value'.
