  • Challenger K1 One Person Kayak set is made from Intex "Super-Tough" vinyl which is a high molecular PVC that is unaffected by gasoline, oil and salt water.
  • It is highly resistant to damage from abrasion, impact and sunlight. It also permits more air pressure for rigidity, making it perfect for river and sea action.
  • The K1 comes with 84" aluminum oars and a high-output hand pump. The hard plastic skegs on the underside of the kayak (similar to the underside of a surfboard) provide directional control so you can be sure you'll get where you want to go.
  • The kayaks feature inflatable seats with backrests, inflatable I-beam floors, grab lines on both ends, and a cargo net for extra storage. The sets also includes a repair patch.
  • Kayak size: 274cm (108") long x 76cm (30") wide by 33cm (15") high Weight Capacity: 100kg (175lbs).

Brilliant price I have the two man version of this and explorer they have been used a lot on canals and rivers/lakes.

Brilliant quality never had a puncture, takes approximately 15-20 mins to fully inflate it, plenty of space in the front netting for a back pack and also space in the rear with the gear.

The supplied pump is a little flimsy and has come apart a couple of times but simple to fit back together.

Might be worth upgrading the pump, I already had a spare but still use the supplied one.

Highly recommend you get a life jacket whilst using and avoid using in the sea, the lightweight design of these even make it very very hard to control in a current and this time of the year always sees a lot of accidents with inflatables.

On the canal/lake these are an absolute dream to use, can't wait to use ours again very soon.

Another small detail is the oars being slightly on the short side meaning every stroke drips water onto your legs, this is obviously not a big deal during nice summer days.

A simple solution is fitting an old broom handle between the two parts to extend it but obviously that effects portability.

Brilliant piece of kit though, this is the 'sporty' model compared to the Explorer which is more of a canoe then a kayak.

hi, you seem to know a fair bit about it. could you comment on the stability of the kayak? I heard if you inflate only the back rest and not the seat you get more stability as the centre of gravity is lowered.

Looking at using this on my beach ... not too far from the shoreline of course... What do people recommend regarding lifejackets vs bouyancy aid jackets?

Was looking at getting a 100N bouyancy aid...

    I've used in the sea.
It was difficult to get in the kayak when you're battling the tide, and not a pleasurable experience trying to keep yourself upright in the waves.

As has been said previously in this thread. Don't use it in the sea.

Good for inland not for sea. Keep seeing these totally under inflated on beaches which makes me nervous! Great price!

These are great but be warned can be difficult to get in and out of for the larger bodied

Had I not already purchased the 2 seat Explorer couple of years ago (previous deal @ £106ish) I would have snapped this up. I made the comment about the seat when that one was reduced again earlier this year. So, I tend to put in a small amount of air, just enough so I am still sat on the floor, so to speak, but with a tiny amount of cushioning. I have never used the Challenger and prefer the aesthetics, however having the option to use mine with one or 2 people (depending on seat position), plus fishing gear fits in nicely by my feet, means that I am quite happy. This price is fantastic though, great find for a quality product. (edited)

Great price for this time of year if you are after one of these. I have this and the K2 explorer and prefer the latter. I find the K1 much less roomy at the front so my feet are squashed together which makes for a less comfortable ride. It also lacks an interior drain valve so it is very difficult to get the water out when trying to pack back up. If I was on the market for another 1-seater I'd probably try something different.
