    I own 2nd or 3rd generation M18 impact and my advice is to go with M12 impact with 6.0 Ah battery unless you are drilling and screwing big holes/bolts all day. (edited)

    Problem is you can end up spending more if you take into account he more common deals on the 18v tools and the m18 range is stronger with the lineup of tools

    I would like the M12 stuff too but as a DIy'er it makes more sense for me to just be on a single platform of tools and batteries
