Looking to replace an pair of Merrells that our pet nourished, well chewed. As I don't wear socks the scent must be 'rich' to say the least, but she loves it.

I came across these and for £63 thought well, not a mad price for a shoe that on checking the video on amazon is well though for a multi purpose use form water, walking running and kicking the princess's butt. No not a chance she is a loyal and trusting cockapoo....we have spent so many hours together walking and then munching my shoes. Love is ! buying more shoes.

Let me and the hotUKdeals family know your thoughts.

Well, seems strange to call something “the mother of all boots” when it’s quite obviously not a boot, but a shoe offering zero ankle support. Haven’t owned Merrells myself, but heard many accounts of their quality dropping off a cliff in recent years. Hopefully some others will chime in with their experiences.

I wear Merrell every day, their quality has NOT dropped off. I own this pair have two pairs and they are simply superb. Whilst no ankle support my podiatrist and physio indicates even without ankle support they are a very good shoe (not boot).

Unfortunately, Merrell's quality significantly dropped about five or six years ago and went from being what was a serious walker's shoe to what is now little more than another 'throwaway' fashion brand whilst maintaining it's previous high price.

I’ve felt the same about Merrell shoes. Gutted, as they were my go-to brand for about 15 years.

Any thoughts on the brand you’d go for instead?

Personally, this performs really poorly on even slightly technical trails... Stability is poor - you need strong ankles and knees.

I bought a pair of Merrells recently and within a couple of months they were done - considering the cost of them it was disappointing to say the least. I'll be looking at other brands in future.

Fake, not the same as when first produced when they lasted. These are imposters based on a time when they were good - fakes!

Bold statement however a tidy price for their comfy ‘low’ boot or shoe.
A good price considering prices of many have shot up in the last 2 years.
    A nice daily.

I have the boot gtx version's and have to say they have been brilliant for me. I've done many hikes, water proofing has been great and compared to the expensive Salomon boots I have these are far more comfortable. For easier hikes these are my go to, i save the Salomon boots for the harder walks.

I have the Moab boots. First time I've ever been so impressed with a shoe that I've re-bought the same model after wearing the previous ones out.

I'm not sure how the shoes compare, but the boots are by far the best walking boots I've ever tried

Why they stopped making the Chameleon wrap slams I don't know.

As a vegetarian I loved them. Merrell sucks.

    You suck Merrell.
    Jim1_Smith's avatar
Do you eat your shoes or just suck on them? Either way, it's not exactly what they're designed for but hey ho!

    Voted hot.

Great price, hugely comfortable but only last around 2.5 years.

My North Face Hedgehogs although not quite as comfortable have lasted 10 years and just started to look a bit "used".
    packard's avatar
The new hedgehogs imo are no where like the old, however that’s generic for TNF

This brand is on its last legs when people wake up.

Anyone who has been buying Merrell for years will know the quality has dropped a lot.

I'll never buy Merrell again. Back to Salomon for me.

The Vibram soles are the worst. Just like wearing greasy soles in wet conditions.

Silly question. But are these goretex? Can’t see it in the description but is in the pictures

I believe only the models with "GTX" are

The most comfortable, warm weather shoes I have ever worn. Would not be without them.

I just got a pair of the Moab 3s for the same price, I don't think this is a very good deal
    supermansimon's avatar
Where from? Do you have a link?

Years ago Merrell made some exceptional shoes and we're super hard wearing. 2 years ago I purchased some Intercepts which while comfy were obviously of a much lower quality.

Recently I purchased the Moab ventilator and I don't know whether they are fakes, but the insole is like walking on concrete, makes an odd sound and the sole of the shoe is super slippery. Hard to contact Merrell about issues too, have bought Salomon & Keen instead.

They may have quality issues, and so your experience may vary, but they have lost me as a customer.
