I have the first gen and I love it! A steal at 899.

From WhatHiFi - whathifi.com/rev…o-2
Verdict
We’re surprised just how much sonic progression the Naim Mu-so 2 brings, however these advancements are necessary to justify the hefty price increase over the original.

At the time of writing, the first generation Mu-so can be bought for several hundreds of pounds less, but for the extra cost here, you get a better performance, extra sonic insight, better usability and the inclusion of an HDMI socket.

And, just as the best film sequels manage to add something to their franchise, the Mu-so 2nd Generation proves a worthy successor and a fine addition to the Mu-so range.

@robo989 thanks for the heads-up there, I got one via eBay for £849 from PeterTysons eBay store & also opted for PayPal's pay in three interest free payments (£283 x 3) to ease the financial pain.

So my better half has one of these & whilst waiting for her to get ready, quite early on in the relationship, I quickly paired my phone to it to have a quiet play - well it came on at full blast - I jumped out my skin! Very embarrassed! Anyway - I was genuinely impressed with the audio quality (once I'd turned it down) & ever since, had fancied one of my own although I struggled to get my head to justify that RRP price-tag!

This has made that sooo much easier. I did give PeterTyson a call ahead of the purchase (spoke the Ben - what a decent guy) & they've assured me that it's a Naim themselves (not PeterTysons) refurb & all of their stock of these are CAT A (A being indistinguishable from brand new plus, the warranty longevity is the same. I'm unsure if the box will be mint of course, doubt it will be but I didn't ask - I may report back here next week).

I think my other halfs' is the 2nd gen one (it has an HDMI port, which I *think* is the differentiator? Do please correct me if anyone can tell me if that's not an obvious differentiator - & what is of course!) so hers will probably need a firmware upgrade - which apparently adds some new functionality (which I quickly read on a forum).

Anyway, I can heartily recommend one, especially at £849, I think is a very good price for it. (edited)

Just a follow up to my earlier post; my one was due to arrive today (Monday) but in fact, it landed yesterday (Sunday) via DPD. It came in the Naim manufacturer (i.e. not brown-boxed & also no outer box) but it faired very well & the box condition was almost mint. In terms of the speaker itself, immaculate, well wrapped in the cloth bag within with a Naim sticker, all embedded in a typical polystyrene enclosure. Aurally, it sounds more than impressive & as they can be used in parallel, I used the Naim iOS app & used my other half's one across the two rooms with Airplay - she loved the multi-room functionality too & they are sonically identical (something I worried about - I thought mine might not sound as good as hers).

As for the accessories (remote control, docs and cables etc) - all looked new. There's a thin bit of (peel-off-when-new) cellophane that normally covers the touch sensitive control panel glass which when new, is supposed to be removed, well, my better-half's one was still on there - she's left hers on since new - mine didn't have that on it at all but there were no fingerprints or other marks on the glass whatsoever.

I love the wave your hand over the control panel to turn it on, that's a lovely touch. Anyway, this was the only way I would have known it *may* have been opened (or a refurb). So 99.9999% - I'm very pleased & impressed & will look for the replaceable speaker covers in other colours next, I think I'd like t have all 3 colours.

**Update, have ordered the 3 x covers (given we've now got 2 of these between us) in all 3 colours from a HiFi vendor with the Ebay 15% off too (£123 for the 3 delivered). (edited)

That's a lot of money for what is essentially a wireless speaker no?
I know you can wire it and all but at that point you loose the portability and all you get is the convenience and looks. Can't beat a vintage stereo or can it?

Not really. The atom is quite a step up from the muso and needs speaker cable and speakers adding.

Same price from Peter Tyson still, there's 5x nectar points at the moment. Also if you have Complete Savings, then it's an extra £80 or so off.

Have owened the cube too and sound can easily fill a mid sized room. I’ve had to limit the speaker in this deal to around 50% of max volume as anything past that and we would get complaints from our neighbours (edited)

A vintage stereo would not come close to how good this huge speaker sounds, the clarity of naim speakers is amazing.
