This any good for PS5 gaming? No hdmi 2.1..

There seems to be a lot of confusion around this perceived absolute need of hdmi 2.1 for gaming.

In short, yes you can play ps5 with this and you don't need to worry about hdmi 2.1.

an hdmi 2.1 connection supports some advanced features vs older HDMI (2.0 in the case of this set). A few of those features are particularly good for gaming.
If the TV doesn't support those features, no point in having the connection.

For instance, if this was a fast panel and/or supported VRR, you'd need an hdmi 2.1 port for your ps5 to make use of those things. As this TV is a pretty basic set, it does not support any such feature, so there's no need for it to have hdmi 2.1 ports. Your PS5 will happily work just fine and display 4k/60 images, even HDR (but i suspect that the HDR this tv produces to be unimpressive). (edited)

I purchased a TX50CX680B from John Lewis back in 2015 ( around 8 years ago ) and always worked great until about 2 months ago

Now its playing up it take ages to change channels when 1st switched on and when you press a buton has a delayed reaction.
I purchased a new clone remote still has the same problem so it not the remote.

This looks like a good price plus it has a 5 Warranty from Costco .

anyone here own this Model ? (edited)

Really well priced, precisely what I am seeking. Would mounting to a wall impair the extensive warranty?
    TM1233's avatar
    TM1233
If you used 12 inch nails straight through the screen to nail it to the wall then perhaps but otherwise, no. They are designed to fit on the wall or on the supplied stand.

Is the 55 worth it over the 50? :/

It is depending on distance and what you want from the tv. My 55 supplies TV to both rooms. Sound is plenty enough on it to do the job.

Just be warned you need to replace the stand that comes with the TV. It’s woeful at best and downright dangerous and disgusting at worse. TV falls over at the slightest touch. Nearly fell on top of my kid. 14kg. All on top of him.

Debated whether to send back the TV but picked up a much but stand at Amazon for £20 which does an impeccable job at providing the stability I wanted. (edited)

Anyone looking at the 55 inch, be careful of the stand.

Ours has been installed correctly as per the instructions and yet it wobbles so much it’s going to tip over very easily unless it’s put into the wall.

Debating about returning it to Costco now because it’s so bad.
