    What does redimentioned mean?

He's the ninja of the Nth dimension, so redimensioned rather than remastered

Apart from ease, are there any benefits of buying this version over playing the Amiga/Megadrive versions on an emulator (already set up on Steam Deck)? (edited)

It's not just the resolution etc, they did a whole reworking of the pacing, the difficulty, the level design etc, to make it a modern experience.

There was a really interesting article about it when it was first released. It was designed by a team of student game designers within the Sumo Digital future-devs project, which is really cool in itself.

Also interestingly, the original was made in Sheffield, and is referenced and on display in the National Video Game Museum.

...Yes, this was my absolute FAVOURITE game as a child, and I so I could talk about it all day!

£2.16 at AllYouPlay with code ALLYOUCANPLAY

EDIT: Use a card instead of PayPal. It was going through as Euros for some reason. (edited)

It's not at a price I shall consider. I used to love the game when it first came out

£2.31 is not a price you would consider for a game you loved? Lol

On the Amiga the game was mega-sponsored by Chupa Chups (hey kids, eat more sugar!) and it was annoying as hell having to spin into all the Chupa logos. I'm guessing they changed those thousands of ads for the 'redimensioned' version.

Nowhere near as good a game as people seem to think, especially compared to Sonic (which it was clearly ripping). Some really stop-starty awkward level design.

Sonic was poor compared to Super Mario World on the SNES.

I had this game on the Commodore Amiga 1200 it also came with a code wheel thing that you used to unlock the game for copyright

Piracy killed the Amiga in the end, good old X copy was brilliant

The mascot platformer of the Amiga. It wasn't great, but it sure showed off it's graphical capability.

Great memories but I guarantee if I buy it now, I'll not spend more than 5 mins playing

I remember playing the original Zool 20+ years ago everytime I went round to my friend's (no longer acquainted with him fortunately) house. The original had a tie in with Chupa Chups so their lollipops were featured throughout the game, not so in the remake because the sponsorship deal had ended. Chupa Chups is a weird name it comes from Spanish verb chupar which means to lick, how appropriate for a lolly

    Will I buy this? No
Did I like the game? Yes
Do I like the memories? No

Chupa chups are from Barcelona so makes sense

All Amiga games had shitty jumping physics and weird crappy generic consistent slow scrolling with no variation in speed

This is as good as it got, was really good.

Ending was crap though, it just said wait for zool 2, but it never came on the megadrive.

Just noticed one of the music is from Lotus III the ultimate challenge (Lotus II on the mega drive)

I had this on the Amiga. It's not great. I was spoilt by the console platformers of the day though.
  22. m1kehunt's avatar
Good game, do they do zool 2? Used to love playing that on the CD32
    Assured_Brother's avatar
You must of been the only other person who owned a cd32 as I did. What a strange console that was! I even loved microscosum. Diggers was great, nick foldos PGA tour and of course chaos engine. Liberation however.... What a dark game that was

This is a blast from the past. I had this on our 486 pc.

kinda hilarious that this guy was the Amiga's answer to Mario.

One of the first PC games I played. You couldn’t even save the game so you had a disc which rotated and had three different parts of Zool’s body. When you wanted to quit you’d match up the picture on the screen on the disc and it revealed a code for you to put in next time.

I'll never forget trying and failing to install this on my mum's PC back when it came out. Then my mum's friend's boyfriend came round, he was a IT specialist back when it was all very new. I knew my way around DOS and to use the dir command but he showed me how do it page by page and that just blew my mind.
