Thanks to PoserDude for the original Sainsburys deal for the Vita Slim.
Just picked up this in my local Sainsbury's in Preston. Definitely a good deal if you aren't bothered about having the new slim model.

sorted byAwesome deal and heat added. May be a 'release the geese' deal though.
Seems a decent enough price for everything. Have some heat
prefer the original and the screen. they're both the same speed too.
None in my local I'm afraid

Thank you
The software and "gaming experience" is exactly the same. The old one looks nicer physically, has better construction and has a better screen. The new one has better battery life. They're the only differences. I'd rather have the old one any day since I'm perfectly happy with its battery life already.

thanks for responseHad both and prefer the new as it's quite a bit lighter, more comfortable to hold and the USB charging port is way more convenient. Old one looks better but I've been well impressed with the battery life on the new
I prefer the older because of the screen and I charge mine via USB, I use the proprietary USB cable connected to a Satechi Ucharger, this charges the unit just fine from any USB input rather than needing the data rail and +5V. In fact the Ucharger is brilliant for all devices that only normally charge that way.
