IF you are limited to the 2230 space then this is a good offer for a faster 1TB storage. Works in Steam Deck as well.

  • Good Things Come in Small Packages: The Rocket 2230 fits just about anywhere. Need to upgrade your Steam Deck, Microsoft Surface, or other device where space is limited We have you covered. Don’t risk buying a pulled OEM drive from a shady site - get a brand-new retail SSD designed to make your life easier. It also works on many longer slots so it will always be useful, plus it might be the right fit for your HTPC or smaller system.
  • David Versus Goliath: Don’t let the small size fool you: the Rocket 2230 is one very fast drive. It offers Gen4 NVMe performance in a tiny form factor. Hit up to 5GBps and push up to 800K IOPS with slick responsiveness. It’s also backward compatible with Gen3 and Gen2 PCIe slots with reduced bandwidth, but retains excellent latency.
  • Larger Than It Looks: Many 2230 drives are limited in capacity, which can make life more difficult, especially when trying to build a large game collection. Many devices come with limited internal storage space, forcing you to pay a premium or to rely on microSD cards. Now you can store everything you want on one drive as the Rocket 2230 comes in capacities of up to 1TB.
  • International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions.

If you are dropping this in the steam deck you won't get the full speed, the deck is Gen 3 so can't match the speed of the SSD. You can get the Corsair 1Tb gen 4 for under £100 from the pc supplier I can't mention on this website. Just Google mp600 1tb mini

I got a pm991a and cut it to 2230, works perfectly at a fraction of the cost of a real 2230 drive. (edited)

Hi. After some advise please for a replacement ssd for a Lenova L13 laptop (ssd is a Samsung PM981a, model: MZ-VLB256PM981a). Could anyone recommend suitable upgrade options please?

Just need an M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, they are the most common now and there's been a load of these deals posted on here recently, 1TB for sub £50

If you want to fit a cheaper 2230 SSD for the Steam Deck, there's a website (Sc-n) that does 1tb for under £100, probably not gen 4, not sure you would even notice.

Not slating this post op, just opening options for Steam Deck users if they want a cheaper drive

I've read that the Steam Deck only supports up Gen3 x4 anyway. Gen 4 should drop down to be compatible though.

£130 a bit much to drop on backup storage, but does anyone know if these will work in the 30mm M.2 WiFi adaptors I sometimes find in laptops and small form factors?

I somehow doubt it as usually all SATA ports are accounted for in BIOS enablement settings.

I still get the discount on my main account, but not on the other one. I will try to fix it.
