I know! tempted to get one to put in my 2011 macbook pro after the 240GB Crucial Refurb one I got late last year died on me. Even tempted to put it into my Desktop and put GTA V onto it.

I moved over to SSD a couple of months ago- I know it doesn't really help with FPS, but I found it smoother in GTA V..i think the open size, massive map in GTA V means when it needs access to a hard drive the SSD just responds so much quicker than an old hard drive.

I no longer what any PC with a hard drive now (once you move over to SSDs you just cant face going back.)
Heat added good price
Look folks, if you're a hold out, this is it. Take the dive.

I've had aa 128GB Samsung ssd as my boot for a few years now, I'd never go back.

Install your OS, and your browser to it, plus a few essential applications like office that you'd like to open instantly.

Get out of the habit of saving to the desktop, and install other apps and games on a second drive.

£29.99, it doesn't get much better. Beyond this they'll probably just stop making them and make 256 the minimum or something.

I've got 4 ssds in my main computer, one in the gf's, and one in the laptop. They're the best upgrade ever.

Very true. Soon as I had an SSD in my Desktop I refused to buy any computer without one. This SSD is perfect in that it is big enough for the OS to be put onto and a lot of applications as well. Photoshop and 3D modelling programs run like an absolute dream on my Toshiba SSD.

And it saves pennies on electricity-more over time...you never need to use sleep again as PCs boot up to a fully usable machine in 20 seconds.
Typical, ordered an SSD on Tuesday for £40...
£29.97 actually. Ordered a couple of them. Thanks.
Already done my desktop, but need for the kids laptops... waiting for a deal on 256 GB for that though.
Was thinking of getting one for a long time now. It had to be done at this price! Thanks very much for the heads up.
heat added, perfect for my new build as a boot drive.
Great price. one ordered. thank you
really good price OP thank you
Tempted - although I'm not sure even an SSD can salvage how slow my laptop is X)
I wish amazon would price match so we could use bespoke beat my price through tcb
Just popped my SSD cherry with this deal. Its been a long time coming (no pun intend) Was slightly tempted with the Kingston v300 deal a few days ago but remembered they're pants. Will be nice not waiting upto 2 mins for a usable 7 desktop.
Just been reading about these on another post for a refurb laptop.

Apart from installing an OS, are these a straightforward plug in swap for an existing SATA HDD in a laptop or desktop, or is a fitting kit (with spacers, etc) needed?

Having read comments on here, thinking about buying a couple to use for the OS/boot drive on a laptop and desktop now.

Damn you HUKD. I don't really need one! Still bought it.

Depending on how old your case is you might need a 3.5 to 2.5 bracket adapter to use in a desktop. Should be fine in a laptop.
I've just upgraded to windows 10. Is it easy to migrate everything from hdd to ssd?

Pretty simple.

Probably best buying a cheap (a few quid off Amazon) SATA-2-USB connector/enclosure and just use some free software like Macrium Reflect.

Great price. Thanks OP. Heated and Ordered.
Dat write speed tho

Yep, definitely SATA. I'm gonna order one for now for the laptop, as I've been getting an error on it which (via google) points to a failing HDD anyway.

Thought it might be a new laptop needed, but if these drives are as good as claimed, this might make the laptop better straight away - gonna upgrade the RAM too from 3GB to 8GB (£40).

Cheers

Heat will be added.
Commented about a performance desktop not having an ssd at least as an O/S drive .With the price of ssd's now,its not an upgrade but a standard fitment.
I've bit the bullet. don't use my desktop as my OS drive is slow and needs re installing so this will be an excuse to have a fresh install.
Brilliant. Currently building a gaming PC with my son and was going to wimp out on an SSD because of price but this is perfect.
Tempted for an old laptop, but the processor fan is on its last legs and can't be bothered buying a new one due to cost of them.
£3.99 delivery charge should be added to the description.

It's a 1ghz A4-1200 with 4gb's soldered RAM. I'm fairly doubtful anything can salvage it. Windows 10 helped a tad but it's still pants. Probably doesn't help I use a decent specced desktop 99% of the time mind you

Note for if you upgrade your desktop, if you don't mind about looks you can always leave the SSD dangling or tape it to the side of the case

Haha, Cheers.

Haven't been using the desktop as much as I used to, but if this makes a visible difference to the laptop, I'll sort one (hopefully still at around this price) for the desktop too and get a fitting adapter for the 3.5" bay. And I already have 2nd drive in that computer for storage, so would use this as the main boot/program drive.
thanks ordered.
I hear this SSD is not as fast as others? Or there was some drama about it being a new model introduced at lower speeds than a previous one?

Really looking to get one and it's tempting at this price but don't want to shell out on a sub par SSD when I could save and get. A much better one (Samsung one)
