About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
I got fed up with of the price of multi-blade replacements for my Wilkinson Sword / Gillette razors. I bought this 'old-school' razor based on the onsite reviews which are very favourable. It is a very good DE razor and gives a better shave than I was getting from the forementioned razors. Replacement blades (I recommend Personna) are a fraction of the price. Obviously not as good as a Merkur or Edwin Jagger, but this razor is a fraction of the price of those yet still gives a VERY close shave with decent blades.....

sorted byLol my dad thought I was an idiot for buying this because he always cut himself. Now he's dead.
I don't miss shaving one bit.
you don't know what you're talking about.

Seriously - I urge all men to try it. We are brainwashed by very effective, and to be frank, amazing marketing. It's not only the money saving, shaving is now a real pleasure and I have sensitive skin which wasn't helped by the cartridge razors. Not had any razor rash or dryness since I started DE shaving. These DE blades last me a week, not cut myself yet, just take it nice an' easy and enjoy the art of shaving as it was meant to be

You do cut yourself a little bit more, with a modern razor, unless I catch the grain I never cut myself. With my DE razor every other shave or so I may get a small nick, well worth it for a closer shave at a fraction of the price.
People stopped using these because marketing works, and if a company can sell you 5 heads for 20quid you can bet that will be their main push.
I bet you're an IPhone user....
My cost is only 10p per blade and well can't count foam as you have to use it either way. Because my blades are cheap I just use a new one a week, so £5.20 a year.... even though I could carry on using the blade I don't see the point.
Get over it, DE-pushers.

Well that escalated quickly.
I would prise an Edwin Jagger from your cold dead hand..... as for the Mach 3? Nah fuggit.
Enjoy wasting money on over-priced blades fella lol!

I have an Edwin Jagger. Please don't kill me...
The whole way the razor market changed is actually famous in marketing. The strategy of selling at a loss (think: games consoles) and selling add ons at a high premium is called the 'Razors and Blades' Marketing Model.
It is impossible to definitively say if it was purely this strategy that changed the market, but the fact is when Gillette, who at the time did not have safer or better razors, started selling handles at a very cheap rate it could lock its customers into its own premium heads, and its profits skyrocketed. The other major brands we know today followed suit.
Whatever works best for you is best, that is simple. If you have tried both and modern razors are better for you then great, for me as soon as I tried a DE razor I wished I had tried it earlier.
We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order. :O(
I collected them for years - still have a few nice ones in bacolite boxes, some with unopened packets of "blue" blades.
However, the price has gone up on this according to camelcamelcamel so not as good a deal as it was previously

I prefer my disposables from Gillette and WS.
yep that why people stopped using them, and BIC razors.

This Silver Tone one is all-metal construction..... I did consider the Wilkinson one but it's a bit too 'plasticky' for my liking

HD 34c in stock, you say? Tempting....
I tried shaving with one of those once,
Upside: I cut myself about the same number of times that I did with my Dad's old DE
Downside: I missed about 50% of my stubble because I didn't dare work around it
Seriously tho, a cutthroat is called that for a reason, and they're also really designed for someone else to shave you rather than you DIYing it
I think the truth is if you want to get into DE shaving a decent starter kit is £30-50. However unlike cartridge shaving the consumables are very cheap and your tools are expensive but hold value. So a Merkur 34c maybe £30 but second hand its still worth £15-20. A good sturdy razor will last forever.
If you do buy this two useful places for information are:
Mantic59's youtube channel
Badger and Blade shave clinic
Now i wont say this type of shaving is increadable.I does take a bit longer and you do need to take a bit more care, but overall the end result is just as close as the cartridge blades. I paid less than a £5 for 100 blades!! Each to there own.
Try this pyramidrazorsharpener.wordpress.com/ and only spend 20p EVER.........................apparently?
DE shaving is very different to cartridge shaving and there is much more of a skill involved, which if i'm honest is one of the reasons why I like it so much. It can't be treated the same way as a cartridge or cuts will happen. I do without doubt get a much closer shave from my DE than I ever got from my Mach3. Some people will say DE is only equal to Cartridge, Some is down to skin type but most of it is down to technique, attention & prep. I really do not cut myself very often anymore and I'm quite new to it. My only regret is that I didn't discover it 20 years ago

I'm someone who has to shave once a day (atleast 6 days a week) and my stubble is so thick that I cannot get a clean shave, unless I shave against the grain. Surprisingly, my skin handles shaving against the grain reasonably well. I get the odd nick here and there with the Mach 3, but only because my hair starts growing in different directions every few inches and I've slide the blade instead of gliding it across. I always shave in the shower (close to the end) and always use King of Shaves Gel.
Worth it for a fiver, if I like it I'll splash out on a Edwin Jagger or Merkur
I don't know why people who use modern razors **** people off who use something like this, or even the other way round. They both have their place. If you're in a rush, then a modern razor is much better, but if you have more time, then a DE is more pleasurable and relaxing to use. But if you use a DE, you need a good shaving soap. If you use the gel stuff you can use with the modern razors, then you'll cut yourself because it doesn't glide enough or allow a little more overlapping.
