I live out in the sticks in Somerset and use my data for apple CarPlay around Somerset/Devon a lot. I have been on Vodafone for 10+ years and found the signal has got worse recently, and minimal 5G coverage around here. Coincidentally I bought a smarty sim about 3 months ago for the free roaming when I went on a cruise and used dual sims for that month. I was shocked that around here the smarty signal was consistently better than Vodafone and even got 5G in some very rural locations. Ive always ignorantly assumed the three signal was bad and was so impressed I ported mine and my girlfriends sims to smarty the next month

For those who don't wanna spend extra pound as they don't need extra data.
Also, £5 for 3 months doesn't work, I posted the deal but have to expire as its not working

5g doesnt seem to work in the teesside area but apart from that very happy with 4g signal and 24gig for price of 12 for 18 months for £8 plus roaming too

Uses the 3 network, so be careful in case 3 is really bad in your area.

As far as I'm concerned 5G is one of the biggest cons ever pulled on the public, the only places I've ever had a good 5G signal is outdoors and relatively close to a mast - the sort of place where ultra fast d/l speeds are sort of irrelevant - and I've never wanted to d/l a huge file to my phone anyway! 99% of the time it's pretty useless and you get a lower d/l speed than 4G.

5G is not a con. It uses higher frequencies/bands. They are not perfect for long distance/ or building penetration but have more bandwidth. So if your 5G phone locks to one of those masts you will be surprised. I get 500+Mbps with EE and 1Gbps with Smarty, where I live.

When 5G works is very good. But you need to be near a mast.

Don’t do it! I got this and poor / no signal in central London. I complained and they suggested “we are aware that this is a highly congested area, so you might not get good signal in many parts of London”.
    What a joke!!
