unfortunately whole this version has a metal stiking cap... the rest of the handle is in fact entirely plastic. as are the cogs mechanism too. so also the steel is not a proper tool steel but some softer regular 'not hardened' steel. so all in all it might be a fair price for 9 quid but not a steal. also the quality control may not be the best either....

but it makes you wonder if any of the other versions of this tool are all metal. which then would be actually deserving of the higher msrp about 20 quid... and then also still probably worth getting over this one (even for 20 quid). since 'too cheaply done' version actually probably won't last half long enough before it starts to degrade / mechanically come apart due to trying to make plastic handle do thing's it's structurally incapable of doing. which is to say: take repeated hammer blows.

good design idea, just has to be all metal is all... to take the necessary damages

I'm one of those who got this in October 2017 for £4 and it's been great.
only sharpened once and has been used extensively even with a hammer.
    worth the price even now.

Not sure if I would trust this to hold up to much, but okay for casual DIY. I normally like Fatmax's quality.

what kind of gimmick is this?

If anything should fold, it shouldn't be a chisel
