    Out of curiosity, would this work as a mic if placed in jack of a switch, say to play fortnite?

    No, it is only a replacement for a broken component that these days very rarely breaks.

    I use this very model for connecting an IEC 711 coupler to measure and generate headphone and earbud frequency response graphs. Works a treat!

    If your monitor has a pass-through USB then yes as effectively it will work the same as plugging into the USB on your PC. If your monitor only has charging ports then no (don't know if they still ones like that).
