There’s so much DLC at this point it’s honestly the smartest decision to make the base game free. Get people in who wouldn’t usually play it, see if they like it they’ll maybe invest in the DLC. Worst Sims game so far tho for me I can’t lie (edited)
    shadey191's avatar
Agree with you 100. They got my mum hooked since sims 1. Imo they don't improve the games. Maybe they get better graphics but it's missing something. just money grabbing and there's rumours of a sims 5 they need to add something more (edited)

it was free a while ago as I've never paid for it...watch out tho as I read yesterday on Reddit about someone who bought all the DLC for Sims 3. They hadn't played for a few years and then logged in to find all the DLC gone, just the base game remaining, when he spoke to support he was instructed to buy all the DLC again if he wants it. maybe one of those rare cases I don't know but support basically didn't want to help as a lot of companies hire support teams elsewhere and they get paid the more cases they get done so rather than help the guy, this one wanted to close the case. Not sure if his got the DLC back yet tho.

According to someone else in another thread though a EA representative posted also on Reddit in their same thread, said that either the post wasn’t true e.g just had a grudge against EA , had a 2nd account and miss logged in or the EA person he spoke to on help didn’t know what they were talking about. So I don’t know what to believe, it wouldn’t shock me though since EA & other companies like Ubisoft have treated customers bad before

Yes and to answer the other posts it has been given away free before even though currently this deal is just a rumour & hasn’t been officially confirmed the picture says get the game as it was given away before so the person could redownload it (a bit like when people see free on psn for themselves only because of a trial or redownload or plus & they forgot, HotUkDeals often gets rumour game posts nowadays, usually they turn out to be true though, but sometimes like the recent PS+ ones that said sekiro was going free, not always correct. But I wouldn’t be surprised if this one is true (edited)

Why are EA making this free?
    georgeb's avatar
Because they make ££££s from all the dlc that they offer you to buy…. My daughter is always asking for certain add on packs that can cost up to £30 each - maybe more
  7. FatBagOfBits's avatar
Or just google fit girl repack and get the dlc too
  8. TheToolGuy's avatar
Time to neglect your babies and remove the doors so social services can't take them away
    oliver_staunton's avatar
and then you can play The Sims 4
  9. ch7leach's avatar
I have this already and had it free somehow many years ago, personally it's not the style game I enjoy but the better half loves it along with the others and expansions! But wow if you want it all it's going to set you back a few quid!
    L33TL33's avatar
Works out around £600 for every single Sims 4 DLC . EA simply just try to get as much money as possible from all their games, no matter how basic they are

I played Sims 1, back in the day. I told my girlfriend about how I had tried to set up a man and woman, but he was married so he refused. So I murdered his wife by making her take a swim and then taking away the pool ladder.

My GF looked at me with horror and disgust, and she still blames me for killing a woman, just because her husband was faithful to her.
  11. J400uk's avatar
I’ll go for this! Haven’t played in years and used to love it back in the day. Hot for nostalgia alone
  12. dannykerner1990's avatar
Typically EA. Try to suck people in to pay DLC. Should been free to begin with and I guess Sims 5 would just be a remodeled free to play structure
    oliver_staunton's avatar
    Loot box
  13. telboy69's avatar
You need a mortgage for the DLC.
    tjc2005's avatar
    So true
  14. iceburglettuce's avatar
Base game has so little content. You need to buy some of the overpriced dlc to get much from this.

    What's Rosebud?
  16. baz9torres's avatar
Hopefully a sign of a Sims 5 announcement soon.

Only 1 million pounds for all the expansions and sets. Don't be weak like me. Just play the main game lol
  18. Xercen's avatar
I used to play the Sims until my mate mentioned that the game is just doing stuff I already do in real life. Never touched another sim game after that lol.
  19. ebilcake's avatar
    Fitgirl repack... Thank me later.

Or not, it's a massive time sink and the base game is boring, even with DLC's it needs mods.
  20. Janine_'s avatar
This game has cost me so much over the years it’s the packs that get you good game though tbf my daughter loves it.
  21. Pancakes42's avatar
Does anyone know if you can play sims on a Mac Pro? ☹️☹️☹️ tried googling but didn’t understand
    sm9690's avatar
    Yes via the Origin launcher

I can’t read the text on PS5 unless I’m right up against the screen. For some reason, they haven’t included an option to increase the text size, so this is a pass for me.

was free a while ago but heat for the heads up of it coming back
    Dunny's avatar
Wasn't free on Steam last time

Played this at release and it felt very closed world. A step back from sims3.

From memory you couldn't just walk around the neighbourhood like you used to

Ergh..... I just paid for this last week for my daughter.

If you bought it on Steam, contact them for a refund and they'll more than likely grant it if you explain it to them, it will be a refund to your Steam Wallet rather than your original payment method though. I've had this happen to me on a few occasions now.

They Sim (pun intended) to go gratually for the Pay2Win / Free2Play scheme as there the monies are these days. Hook as many people as you can with a basic (but good) free option and then charge for extras, with daily microtransactions to extra modules and big dosh. Basically you can end up paying well over £50 per month for a game.

This whole thing simply is founded on the gambling addiction tricks used for decades by Casinos, mechanical or digital games as slots/roulette/ card games and the P2W/F2P model used in so many mobile or web games for like over 15 years now. (edited)
  30. Longbrownoseface's avatar
I've never really 'got' The Sims. Do you play simple play God and provoke everything, or do the Sims have a level of autonomy where you can watch their lives play out?
    GamesMore247's avatar
    Both.
  31. DJFlashHarrison's avatar
However the 50 dlc packs that you will need to get cost about £10 each.
  32. notsram's avatar
Not bad, I suppose, for the few remaining people who don't already have the base game.

Although personally, I see this as a last cash grab before the launch of Sims 5. Sims 4 base game is a) donkeys years old and b) very cut down to 'encourage' people to buy the multitude of expansions out there.

At least it doesn't have lootboxes and microtransactions(so old, it predates them!). But I'd put a lot of money on Sims 5 being crammed with them. (edited)
  33. KongDonkey's avatar
I've had to shell out for quite a lot of the expansion packs but to be fair DD has played and enjoyed them all. Seasons and University in particular. Only got them when they are discounted though.
  34. LukeyWolf's avatar
Base game is boring anyway, you kinda need the DLC
  35. Mendoza's avatar
I tried this once, it was boring, I was making no money to have the ability to do anything
    Phillipa_Reed's avatar
That's why you need to put cheats on with this game
  36. YGWYPF's avatar
Never got into The Sims. Now, Sim City on the other hand was one of my favourites on the SNES back in the 90s. I might give this a try though, can't argue with the price.
