    Is this brand tasty? Taste of real chocolate? I have had a few friends rave about it recently? It seems to have replaced Green & Blacks with the chattering classes. Or is it all hype and just the current thing?

    I genuinely prefer this over Cadbury and several of my friends do too. It's delicious.

    I might be getting cynical but it seems that confectioners particularly this brand are trying to push profits to the limits by reducing the expensive ingredients cocoa solids and cocoa butter and filling them with sugar and cheap carbohydrate additives. Their darkest variety is just about edible. One thing I don't like is the reason for the crazy pattern is to stop people being able to measure how much they eat. This has been proven to get people to both eat and drink more, that's why pub pint glasses are also irregular shape. So you're both conned with the ingredients and connned with the psychology

    I think lots of 'chocolate' sold in the UK have so little cocoa that they really should not be allowed to call themselves chocolate. A chap I know who works in the food industry told me a couple of years back that they are putting 'salted caramel' in lots of things now because the salted caramel is cheaper than cocoa plus it also hides the fact that there is little chocolate in a bar, dessert, etc.

    It is a similar thing with ice cream. The UK rules allow manufacturers to get away with putting far less milk and eggs in ice cream than many other countries around the World. Many Asian and Latin American countries, for example, have stricter ingredients on what constitutes ice cream than the UK does.

    I know I sound grumpy, but the hottest deal of the day is a few reduced chocolate bars in one shop!

    Quality chocolate though, not tried the caramel one.
