I'm tempted to get this to replace my Ring camera as my 1 year subscription ends soon and don't want to pay them anymore!

How longs the lead on these as I have an outdoor power socket that's approx 2 metres away from where I would mount it.

Edit... I found it, saying 3 metre cable (edited)

If you are planning to power these from an outdoor power socket be aware that the plug is an adaptor type and may be too large to allow the socket cover to close
Only one I can find that should be OK is this.

Several electrical chat sites have recommended it for this purpose. (edited)

    How are these cameras powered?

AC mains 3 pin plug. They can either connect to Wifi or a Lan cable.

I’ve fitted a few, great cameras, easy install, nice app

Can anyone who has both comment on if the 4MP C320WS is worth the extra £9 please?

I have 3 of the Tapo 310 model and have been very happy but for £9 I’d pay the extra for the better resolution.

If the c310 is no different as stated, then you can buy that one for £32.99 (delivered) + 5% off as well when signing up (first order) from the tp link store HERE (edited)

I've got two of these. They've been great. Recommended.

I've found TP-Link Tapo products problematic, 4 indoor IP cams, I won't be investing in them further.
Randomly stop recording, or switch to permanent recording, needing reboots etc. Personally I'd suggest avoiding Tapo products but thats just my experiecne.

Got 2 of these and had to reboot or sort memory card about twice in 4 years. They are recording 24/7 too.

    Prefer rechargeable

What, how can you prefer rechargeable over main powered? These aren’t even hard wired in, they just plug into a socket nearby. The simplest install you can get

These do however detect pigeons in area intrustion or line crossing modes, AI mode does not allow limiting to certain area which makes it impossible to have only human intrusion events for a part of the view.

I'd be looking at getting this, but my outdoor socket is about 6 or 7 metres away. It would be covered as all in a covered carport. What sort of extension lead would be required?

You probably want something like this:

Masterplug WBXBFG10B-MP Weatherproof Electric Box for Outdoors with Four Socket 10 Metre Extension Lead, 351 x 220 x 126.5 mm, Dark Grey amzn.eu/d/8qpuxxL

Personally I find somewhere indoors and do a tidy back to back installation so you don’t have cables or wires on show. Top tip if your also not using a LAN cable snip the ugly white LAN port off(if your using WIFI only) (edited)

Google says this doesn't support POE despite the ethernet which is a shame

I hva 2 of these cameras. they are very good and well worth the money. The only issue I have found you do get false recordings with heavy rain. In most cases you will need an extension lead, they are very cheap and available on ebay.

My only annoyance with these is that I wish they had a wider field of view. Other than that they have been great.

You can even pipe them to a networked CCTV recorder if you wish to.

I was wondering that. Could I set it up so it records to a standard DVR 24/7 but also allow me to dial in and watch live or receive short clips/snapshots when triggered?

What's the main difference with the other one for £1 more (Tapo C310)?

I've picked up a pair of these, and am now looking for suitable sd cards.

I'm tempted to skimp on a pair of the 128GB Kingston Canvas Select Plus for £6/ea., but I'm not sure if they'll be up to the job.

    Anyone have experience of:
    a) Whether 10MB/s min. write speed is enough to avoid dropped frames @3MP 15fps?
    b) If high endurance is truly necessary?
    c) If the TC65/C310 can take micro sd cards >128GB?

I'm likely going to have the camera motion activated, so it isn't going to be continually writing to the local storage.
Though at some point down the road I might build myself an NVR from old PC bits & archive everything the camera spew out.

Anyone know how much power these use?

Power adapter is 9V 0.6A, so absolute max. 5.4W.

So, out of the box they were both fine...

Updated firmware on both through the app, and now I have this:

    50138165-GQbvi.jpg
I guess the firmware has borked the colour calibration of the 2nd camera.

    Any ideas on a solution?
    Reset colour calibration?
    Revert firmware?
    Reapply firmware?
    Return as faulty?

Also is the picture quality meant to be awful when the camera is streamed direct to a Chromecast(ultra)?

(It's worse than screen mirroring my phone to the Chromecast while it's running the Tapo app! Which makes absolutely *no* sense.)

*Incidentally, the cameras can't stream to a Chromecast that's connected via Ethernet; it has to be connected via WiFi. (The cameras can be connected to the network via either). This isn't a fault of the cameras, it's Google's terrible Chromecast casting implementation. (edited)

I really like this camera and it's features, but I don't have enough power sockets close to where I want my cameras. Since I need a camera in 4 or 5 locations, would I be better off going for a camera which has POE? Any other suggestions would be much appreciated and welcomed.
