Are recertified that bad? Was considering getting one as a backup, should I just look for new?

I had a brand new one - only lasted 2 years before it failed , I used it to back up my machine 4 times a year and never came away from my desk , yes I got a replacement under guaranty but I can not trust it , buy something better if you can

Someone else has dropped this a few times, now its your turn. Hooray.

I've never seen the point of buying something so intrinsically fragile, that stores something that could well be irreplaceable, as a used second hand item.

Spend the extra get the three year warranty.

I ordered one of these last month unfortunately it arrived damaged in transit and wasn't recognised when plugged in so returned it (nightmare to sort) but now I'm still chasing up my refund after it was returned 2 weeks ago!!

No surprises there. Shipped from Holland and in the clutches of the singularly dreadful UPS on the journey. Amazing it arrived at all, really.

Ha-haa...any hard drive you like, as long as its "recertified" - WD should be selling new at this price for BF, utterly pathetic!

Will this fit in the PS4?

WD hdds have a soldered usb port, so, no internally don't bother. Externally, yeah it'll work.

Cheers, was just looking at hard drives for the playstation. Thanks.

Also I tried the student discount, but wouldn't apply. This discount code "5OFF1UK" takes off a fiver, but will revert to full price.

I've coincidentally been pondering getting one of these. Minor quibble but I find it's good to have 'Hard-Drive' or 'HDD' in the title somewhere so those of us with Alerts will see it. Thanks for posting though! (edited)

Looks like the one in this post uses Micro B at 3.0 so isn’t it the same speed anyhow? I guess if you want to use a long USB-C cable you already have it could be useful.

I see that It's compatible with ps4, will it also be compatible with ps3?

    Is this compatible with macOS?

Yes, you just need to reformat it via disc utility
