    the last time I went to get whole salmon, the lady working on the counter told me they will not fillet it for me any more (rather rudely too). Was it just me? did she just fob me off? haha

    Our local said they would charge the ‘filet salmon’ price if we wanted it filleted. There were no issues before so perhaps this is their way of ‘saving time and effort’.

    When you buy a 3kg whole salmon, your usually left with 2 x 1kg side fillets or 2kg of salmon chunks once filleted from the body and the head and backbone are removed (you still get those also if you want for stock)

    I prefer the side fillets as I cut the 2 sides into half again and cook a piece on the BBQ on a cedar plank, with an Asian glaze, usually enough to feed 3 or 2 greedy people (edited)

    The title might be wrongly interpreted as a whole salmon is currently sold at £7.99 and not £7.99 per kilo which I guess is what you are trying to convey? (edited)

    Title shows per kg, and the picture on description shows £7.99 per kg. Surely £7.99 can't be for a whole salmon unless they sell baby salmon.

    I asked mine to fillet it and came back to collect it in 5 chunks still with the bones/backbone in. I chuckled to myself.

    You have to pay for the whole thing - head and all if you have it filleted. You can elect to leave the head and bits there though

    We went in couple of weeks ago in the Swansea Morrisons and the only size they were doing were going to cost £30+ they were huge! We only really wanted around 1.5 to 2kg🤦

    i dont think its possible to buy whole salmon that weigh 1.5-2KG that's very small for a salmon, possibly juvenile. Just buy a fillet if you only need a small amount, or a smaller fish like trout if you want a whole fish. (edited)
