These machines are awesome. You have to scarify at the right time though...when grass is dry but soil is moist etc.

The collector box is useless..as you'll rip up loads of moss (especially on the first attempt )..i.e.. you'll have bin bags of the the stuff.

But with a bit of patience and tlc you'll get an awesome lawn.

If you use a scarifier...you'll also have to 'invest' in grass seed. As you'll have plenty of bare patches (initially)

It's a rabbit hole though with lawns.. lots of variables e.g why do you have a moss problem, the type of grass , regular mowing (not just once in a while once it gets too long) to encourage grass to grow sideways not upwards etc etc

My cheats when I was a lawn nerd... Iron sulphate powder (easy to buy in bulk off eBay). It's water soluble so easy spread via watering can over the lawn..kills moss..but importantly makes grass that dark green colour that folks associate with a healthy lush lawn.

Maybe worth checking that the current b&q deal for these won't work out a bit cheaper as they are running a 10% discount this weekend with an additional 10% for b&q card holders.

I've been tempted by this in the past but they seem to reliably break after a year or two. I would hold out for the Aldi one as that has a 3 year guarantee... they normally sell them in April. Or if you have a small lawn, buy a rake!

Had mine for about 3 years. Rented out to dozens of people. Still going strong!

I've had this saved to my favorites on the screwfix app. It has been this price for ages.

Think about letting grass grow longer and introducing some wildflowers. So much better for wildlife.

I agree with wildflowers (in the border) encourage wildlife but wildflowers in grass I’d say are more for meadows / sides of paths walks etc. I think people that push for lawns to be wildflower seeded need to refocus there efforts and push to get fake plastic grass banned first and foremost! I see people vacuuming there front and back lawns especially bungalows! (Low Maintenance Obviously)

Thanks for posting. I've been wanting to pick one of these up ready for a dry spell to pull the moss out of the garden

Cheers op bought it, tried b&q with the 10% off and a £5 voucher I had and adding my membership number it came to £64.99 but then they added on postage which was £6.99 as I don't have one near me so altogether it it would have cost £71.98 so you saved me a £1+ and I was able to collect straight away

    Ordered one

This will be put to the test on my garden if it makes it through the year (warranty term) then it will last years (edited)
