And no, it's not the same as using a mobile phone. It's perfectly fine to use a phone with a hands-free or as a satnav. (edited)
Did anyone else try pressing play more then once
There is a voucher to click just under the price
And why exactly is this an offence? (edited)
Not supposed to have dash-cam screen left on while driving, you should put on screen saver mode, its same as driving while using a mobile phone or watching a video & driving.
Wrong info camera can be adjusted
Absolute nonesense. You are talking out of your behind mate, I’ve never had any issues with screens being on as long as they’re in the holster... what about all the people using Google maps or Tomtoms
Yeah, me just now..two years later😁
Does the camera swivel in its socket so it can be angled? Thanks
Mine does, different make, but seems to be a generic design. Issue I have is the screen is a distraction if it comes on.
Its not only a distraction its a road traffic offence ..
roadhawk.co.uk/art…law
Now its back ordered a second for my other LHD car.
Only downside my second car is American with a rather thick mirror, supplied straps are too short.
Have ordered a suction mirror from ebay and fix it with this.
Consequently I have a LHD and RHD car, the lens moves to accommodate.
I wont worry too much about any traffic offences, if you currently cant get an officer to visit and take detail s for a crime,
they wont be jumping out and stopping unknowing Yi mirror cam owner!
In the case of a serious accident, they will be glad of the footage. In that case unless there was a proven serious obstruction that caused it, it would never go to court.
I have a couple of Yi action cams, they and this are great cameras, Grab a bargain @£44 before it goes up to £66!
HEAT ADDED.
I'm interested to know if it has parking mode.
Given your logic, you should know it is also a road offence to drive with wonky/messed up eyes that do not accommodate!!!
-edit add-on: the link you posted is about MOT rule changes and dashcams, as this is also a rearview mirror it is placed outside zone A and B, so it gets around this and would not count if someone tried -ironically it is roadhawk dashcams (where the link goes) that are more likely illegal/targeted at MOT, not this item.
If you are medically allowed to drive, using this device is not an offence unless you are a NIMBY. I have this and even with the screen on you can focus on the camera or on the mirror and see quite well overall.
I was a bit apprehensive when I got this dashcam as it is tinted but actually makes no difference, including at night. It is designed for left-hand drive vehicles but the camera unit can swivel and rotate so after adjustment it worked. It is larger than my original so it actually reduces blind-spots and makes driving safer whilst also giving evidence if needed against other drivers.
Despite posts above stating these units are all the same, they are not. There are a few variants, unlike others this unit allows
-Camera to swivel and a slight amount of rotation
-Is touch screen but does have a single physical secondary power button at the bottom of the unit
-has wifi and you can use the app (or if your car has an android wifi display, use that too)
-works and last longer than other cheap chinese products
The price has gone up, but with regular amazon lighting deals, worth keeping and eye on and buying if you need it.
Also given some of the comments, it is illegal to drive in England and Wales and use a phone even with handsfree kit. Car manufacturer/Built-in versions are a grey area depending on when they were built into the car. (edited)
Yes and like most dashcams with reverse cameras, you need to physically connect/get fitted, the red reverse wire to the reverse lights for it to work.
Thanks, but 'parking mode' is when the dashcam detects a knock when the car is unoccupied. It starts to record in an attempt to capture the culprit.
I cannot fit the full windscreen without not being able to use my certain mirror.
Any suggestions? Otherwise im probably going to return it. Really like the design
