Depends how far away it is and if you drive or not, also what type of cleaning,

Possibly charge more for doing ironing, traveling expences,

Id pay someone no less than £30 for 3 hours,

hope that helps,

we have a private cleaner and she charges 7:50 per hour, which is very reasonable in my eyes but then again she doesnt do an overly good job, just enough to keep her hired, i'd push for £9 per hour at least saying a minimum of 3 hours.

My friend does it and charges £10 an hour.

i was thinking about £10 a hour, i will be driving only about 10 mins away, dont know what he wants me to do yet!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks & rep:thumbsup:

our local lady charges £9.00 an hour which i think is ok , she will offer a minimum of 2 hours cleaning at a time.
She also offers a discount if you use her on her a regular basis

Your very welcome, good luck! :-D

Might be an idea to tell him what your prepared to do for that, then possibly negotiate for doing extra ironing, washings etc!

Say £12 depending on how much he fancies you, he might knock it down to £9 or give you the full £12

I just knew I shouldn't have read this thread, being a dirty old sod and that

You say that you do office cleaning for him now, do you work directly for him or through an agency etc? if the later it should be fairly easy to find out how much he is paying, this should give you a guide on what he will pay for domestic cleaning. Don't forget on Monday to tell him what a good job you will do for him, your trustworthyness etc. it all goes onto his bill!!!
Ask him what he was thinking of paying you, whatever he says tell him you were thinking a little more than that.
if he asks you, start high, you can always come down but sell yourself low and your stuck!

Good Luck on Monday

Ill give ya £50 if ya coming in the santa outfit lol

I think it also depends on where you are in the country. Here in N Cornwall the going rate is £8 an hour but that also depends on who you're working for!! Often a two hour stint includes a 15 minute tea break. ;-)
Make sure that you can have holidays to suit you, e.g. with the kids.

We pay our cleaning lady £9.50 an hour for 3 hours a week. She gets a 15 minute tea break and we pay her 3 weeks holiday as she comes to us regularly. We have a holiday let house in the South and when it is free we also let her use it, maybe 3 or 4 times a year, and in exchange she'll give it a spring clean.
We're all very happy. I hope you get someone who is nice and treats you fairly.

i go thru an agency and pay 7.50, 2 quid to agency and 5.50 to cleaner in hand (per hr!)

£5.50 an hour is that legal?

"What are the current rates of the national minimum wage?

There are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1 October 2008 are:

* £5.73 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
* A development rate of £4.77 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
* £3.53 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age"
