Here’s a summary of the key points from the web page:

Samsung Update Schedule: Samsung has altered the update schedule for its Galaxy S20 series, moving from monthly to quarterly security patches. The Galaxy S20 lineup, launched in 2020, has stopped receiving Android updates after three years as initially promised.

Extended Support for New Models: The newer Samsung Galaxy S24 series now comes with a longer update guarantee of seven years, matching some competitors and indicating a market trend towards extended software longevity.

Market Trends: This shift reflects a broader industry move, with Google’s Pixel 8 series also offering seven years of updates. The trend suggests that future phones may have longer software support, potentially outlasting Apple’s typical five-year support period.

The page also discusses the implications of these changes for consumers and the industry, highlighting the balance between technological progress and the lifespan of devices.

...as they said they would, since "aren't that old" is actually 4 years (> average user ownership).

    Typical clickbait/sensationalist article (edited)

And exactly what was offered when the phone was sold. Nothing to see here, move along............

So it is more a reminder for what consumers actually bought, which many of them will conveniently not remember, thus allowing sensationalist rubbish.

"sensationalist rubbish". It's about time I took heed from some of the stalwarts of HUKD, switch the light off and leave the room with tail between my legs 🐈 🤝

How many people actually looked at how many years of support they would get before buying a new Samsung mobile phone?

Judging by a couple of comments it seems loads might have when in reality hardly anyone would have bothered to look & assumed the phone would work until they broke it.

The real Samdung winding-down (old) news / clickbait:

the operator of the official Samsung UK website / webstore permitted an attempt at winding down / striking off the company a few months ago,
    then hastily implemented reversal.

Is this the reason why androids do not hold their value?

The apple ios 18 update (which will be released later this year and is a major overhaul of the operating system) will be able to be used on the iPhone XR which was produced in 2018

Read the article. These phones are still being updated; just not as often. (edited)
