The link should actually take them to the App Store, at least that is the intended behavior. Good to see that you already figured out a solution, though.

Ohhh OK that makes sense, they didn't actually say where it took them just that they couldn't see the deal. Thank you!

I've just realised that deal links shared via the Android app require the receiver to install the app.
That's not conducive to good UX for either the sender or reciever as most will be reluctant to install the app just to check/use one deal.

Is there a reason this is the case?

I would expect that a non-app user would receive a link that allows them to open in their default browser.

Currently I have to find the deal via the browser and share the URL that way. Which is encouraging me to share less deals with possibly interested friends/family.
Otherwise, I can click through to the deal site and send the reciever that page - which means you lose your commission, right?

    Hi HotUKDeals,

If I share any deal from the Google play store or Apple app store app it doesn't work unless the person I have shared it to has the HotUKDeals app.

This seems counter productive as surely it should redirect them to the website if they don't have the app so they can read about the deal and follow the link.

Thread merged so I'll reply here:

Because the link opens in the user's default browser no? It should be the same on mobile but users are prompted to download the app instead of being directed to the deal in their mobile browser.

    Hi All,

If I find a HUKD link I want to share with friends or family and use the share button on the deal the link then asks the user to install the HUKD app. I am using an android device.

    Is this by design?

If I copy the URL manually and share it's fine.

My thread was moved here to merge with this one. Glad to see I am not the only one, but surely it can't take 10 months to resolve.
