Yes, all the sharing online and amiibo goodness you can do with the Wii U version is not included in this one. It's inferior in every way and doesn't even use 3D too! I think this may go lower despite it having Mario on the cover.

I'm on the fence. Like the idea of creating mario levels on the go but disappointing that you can't do all those things on the Wii U version. Even 3D would have been nice to soften the blow!

It's a great game, but as you say it's lacking compared to the Wii U version. I have it and unfortunately it did get boring fast

the Wii U version advantages will be null and void once Nintendo kill off miiverse

The main difference is the Wii U has a larger choice or levels in the online database. The 3DS version just rotates them.That won't change just because miiverse is being abandoned. To be honest I don't think there was much wrong with miiverse, just that it has not been successful for whatever reason. Don't think many bother with it, other than on occasion.

The 3DS does of course have the big advantage of being more portable, and it does keep kids busy in the car.

The 3DS version also comes with 100 premade levels made by Nintendo, which is about as many as most 2D Marios seem to have. That's the reason I'm interested in it.
