I understand what your saying but almost every ps4 game I purchase requires a download (day one patch) and can be a bigger file size than a switch game itself. Yet it doesnt have to be plastered all over the box art (edited)
It’s just another way for them to say “we were too cheap to upgrade to the 32gb card when publishing this game
Given that significant numbers of people living out in the countryside etc don’t have access to broadband (never mind fibre) is it not best to set expectations before someone makes a purchase they might regret?
The thing is that while the unpatched versions of games on the PS4 will be inferior, they will function without the patch. With Switch games major chunks of the assets are being left off of the cart, and will need to be downloaded before the game can even function.
The obvious answer is a thing that already exists for some unrelated games; ship with reversible covers.
Add to this large numbers of people have caps on their fibre connections.
I dunno, with the PlayStation (with exception of maybe PS1) and Xbox consoles there’s always been a requirement to download and update content, but with Nintendo there has for the most part been a culture of ‘stick the cartridge in and play it’, perhaps they are just trying to do right by their customers as they move away from that model?
Agreed. I know why they've done it but it does make the boxes ugly.
Pity.
Don't think it's about connection but making sure folk have sd cards. Without it, you'd struggle to play this.
If only. No - what they are trying to do is use cheaper (i.e. smaller) cart sizes. I'm OK with later patches to download, but give us the right cart size to start with, or optimise correctly. See Zelda BOTW, MK8, Odyssey for superb games that come with modest memory requirements. (edited)
It’s playable. Just not great. Audio sync issues are the biggest problem for me
