Looks cool but can someone tell me what is the point of Amiibo’s?

Two main reasons people buy are:

1-They look cool, so are collectible and will likely make good antiques years from now

2-they contain NFC tags which when scanned on WiiU/3DS/Switch, you get in game DLC/costumes/maps/challenges/points depending on the game

Some games it can unlock whole new sets of gear, characters and even extra challenges or maps
Really depends on the game used on
