About this deal

You can't find cheaper one of this type and Argos never sold this one cheaper. Has very good ratings too. On Amazon currently for £72.90
With high power and a slim design, the Challenge Dual Action Car Polisher is suitable for polishing, buffing and sanding bodywork. It also features variable speed control for optimum versatility, and an adjustable front handle for maximum performance, low vibration and comfort. The set includes the polisher and 1 sanding pad.
The random orbit dual action means you won't polish the same section continuously, but it will oscillate in random orbits reducing the risk of damage to your vehicle's paintwork. It operates from the mains for continuous power, so you can use it for as long as you need to.

sorted byI agree if you don’t put in the prep but as long as you do you should never put swirls into the paint only remove them and some of the cutting pads I use are cheap but get good results. I’ve also never damaged the paint either. It may struggle with harder paints like on Audi cars but I’ve had great success on French, Japanese and Ford cars.
It’s all about preparation. Pressure wash first if it’s heavily soiled, then snow foam, pressure rinse, use a micro fibre mitt and hand wash, pressure rinse then micro fibre drying towel. Then use the DA to cut and polish. (edited)
It's also good practice to clay the car prior to the drying stage too using the bucket of car shampoo as lubrication. Just to remove the unseen contamination. It's surprising what it can remove.
I personally use a G3 clay mitt on my Mitsubishi Evo.It works really well and is far quicker and easier to use than a clay bar.
The way I use it is to put a load of shampoo into a bucket of water and use that as a lubricant on the mitt. Before this I use a 3 bucket method (2 wash mitts, one for body, one for wheels) to clean the car and wheels thoroughly.
Here is a link to the clay mitt -

Everyone who knows how to polish a car is laughing at you right now
with the factory backplate i use chemical guys hexlogic pads. i think you need the 7" due to the large backplate
relatively expensive but seem to get good reviews
I second the g3 mitt. I bought a katsu dual action on Amazon for £69.99 and came with bunch of pads as wanted to clean my new 2nd hand car.
My prep was:
-Power wash and wash down with mitt night before
- 2nd wash in morning and dried it off.
- used finesse de-iron spray which turns purple when dissolving iron.
-g3 mitt to clay bar it.
- Meguire ultimate compound with polisher setting 2 to spread it then 3 and 4 speed for couple of passes.
- Meguires ultimate finnishing polish with speed 2 for spreading then 3 for couple passes.
- good quality wax applied on low setting.
I think my car came up pretty well and the paint is smooth and friction free.
who will ruin your car's paintwork
How do you get
How do you get an XR3i in a cupboard?
When it comes to car cleaning I think it's each to their own really as there as so many different ways and products you can use to get the same results and what works for one person, might not work for another.

I use a clay bar with a spray lube when I first get a second hand car, it’s amazing how much contaminants are in the paint. I’ve rarely kept a car long enough to do it twice 😁
Hexlogic pads worked really well for me with this.
Best stuff I’ve used is diluted baby shampoo. Sounds odd till you try it
Has she got any swirl marks from this?
I’ll stick to my method on my car thanks
- 1 Bucket for body mitt and product
- 1 Bucket for alloy/wheel mitt and product
- 1 Bucket for rinse with grit guard
I use one for rinse and the other for wash with a gtechniq mitt with britemax ph neutral shampoo which is awesome stuff. Both buckets have grit guards. For wheels I use bilt hamber or britemax ph neutral alloy wheel cleaner which is far better than that autoglym rubbish, also use the ez brush, fine brush and separate mitt.
Don't like meguairs stuff though the pro stuff is ok but overpriced.
I use the awesome kranzle jet wash wheeled ts102 I think for snow foam, rinses, shampoo and wheel wash. Better than that karcher junk, which is really a toy.
Beet snow foam I've used is elite car cares maidenhead own product, where I've had my car detailed (edited)
Check out a guy called "Chris fix" on YouTube, he has a video on how to super clean your car. Good results without the expense of using rotary polishers.
My project car is a Saab 900 1992. It has been sat on the drive for five years undergoing restoration and the paintwork was dull and gritty.
I pressure washed it (Bilt Hamber Autofoam), then washed with a mitt and the two bucket method. Then I did it with the G3 clay mitt - this made a huge difference, really incredible. It leaves the paint feeling like glass.
The car looked great when wet but when it dried the paint was still dull - it is black, solid colour - and looked aged and lacklustre.
The polisher comes with a cheap sponge pad but I bought a couple of Lake Country pads. I used Meguiers Ultimate Compound on an orange pad. This is a cutting compound which will lift a little paint, but should reduce swirls and scratches. After 30 minutes on the bonnet the paint looks great - colour restored and a great gloss. This is before wax or polish. There are some marks still there but it is massively improved. I think it needs another go over.
The polisher is easy to use - pads stick on with Velcro. Main complaint would be that the free pad is not great quality and the cord is a little shorter than I would like.
Loads of info on machine polishing on Detailing World. (edited)
You saying this is bad? Was looking at trying to get swirls out of body not make it worse
This one is random orbital, so should help avoid swirls
This is a da polisher, not a rotary (like the similar priced Silverline one) so, as I understand it, you are less likely to burn through the paint or cause damage. (edited)
