The Donkey Kong stuff should have been a free update. There is no need for 2 versions of this game. Is no better than Nintendo with their deluxe crap.

They spent a year creating extra content that is equivalent in size of some full price games. The DK DLC adds 50% to the playtime of the original game. For £29.99 for everything this is a total bargain.

I don't really agree with their being two editions of the same game.

This edition contains the season pass.

Stop trying to be edgy in Nintendo deals in an effort to try to wipe away your past as a hardcore Nintendo fanboy on here. It’s fooling nobody. (edited)

How can you 'not agree' with it? No one is forcing you to buy it, so all you're disagreeing with there is letting people have the option of buying the base game on its own or with all the DLC bundled in - releasing Complete/Ultimate/Game of the Year editions is pretty standard, and at least this has all DLC on the cartridge instead of a one time use code the way it is on other consoles.

And considering the base game has never been much less than £30, this is a great deal, certainly cheaper than buying base game + season pass separately.
This is ideal for anyone who hasn't already bought the game - although I think if I put my copy on eBay and buy this it would still work out cheaper than buying the season pass.

Just bought this, thanks. Seems good, especially as I usually hate turn based games.

Note: the season pass and DLC is provided as a download code so this game could only be resold as a regular, not Gold Edition, if you have redeemed the code.

What are you on about. The DLC isn't on the cartridge at all. It's a code. This is purely a repackaged game and the cartridge has the exact base game on as the original, just like the original release.

Your last point is the exact reason why all of this is unfair on the original people who bought the game as they have to pay a premium for that DLC compared to this 'version' that comes at a huge markdown.

I agree with noahsdad on the point he is making anyway.

Is it? Then it seems I was misinformed.

But either way, I don't think it is unfair on anyone - things drop in price, everyone must be aware of this by now, and it's up to you whether you buy something earlier at a higher price or wait for the price to drop and get it for less.
Like I don't think it's unfair that 4K TVs used to cost over £1,000 but now you can get a decent one for around £500, I don't think it's unfair that the Switch cost £279.99 at launch but can now be bought for £250 with a game, and I don't think it's unfair that I paid £30 for this game and saw it for £20 six months later.
That's just the way things go, and if you bought a game expecting it to never go down in price, or never have DLC bundled in at the same price to make it better value, then that's on you because you must have realised that's how things work by now (especially if you visit this site!).

So now there's a choice of buying the base game for £20-25 or getting it with the DLC for £30, and the £5-10 price difference is less than the cost of buying the season pass separately (£16), so that's a good deal. Like I said, even if you already have the base game (like I do) you could probably still get at least £20 for it on eBay, making it a £10 upgrade to the Gold Edition - and I don't think that's unfair either. Where are you getting that you have to pay a premium for the DLC? If you shopped around on release, the game was available for about £35. I paid £33. With the DLC on top (£15.99) I paid what this cost on release.

This has simply had a price drop which happens across all platforms on all games. It’s not Nintendo or Ubisoft’s fault that yourself and didn’t shop around to get the cheapest price available.

There is zero argument to be had against this edition. Don’t want to pay for the DLC? Don’t buy it. Simple as that. If you want it, you have to pay for it. You’re not entitled to it for cheaper just because you bought the game upon release and now this edition has had a price cut.

Yea this is one of the few times games have done a DLC right. I can’t see how people can complain about this one.

It’s a true expansion, to an already complete game.

I am a Nintendo fanboy whatever that means to you, me or others though may have different definition. I love Nintendo. But if they suck at something I have always said so Isn't this a Ubisoft made game anyway?

There is an argument to be had against this edition. One bit of DLC doesn't justify a whole new repackaged release. Same goes for Snipperclips and the 2nd version of that.

GOTY versions are multiple dlcs that are then included on the physical media you are buying. So this edition can't even be classed as a GOTY version.

If DLC is substantial enough then release it as a stand alone like Xenoblade did. Otherwise just keep it as actual DLC and let the original version sell more. Its borderline rediculous how publishers have to make gaming so difficult for the consumer to know what they are getting, just for the sake of a bit more cash.

This is an opinion, my opinion, and opinions justify an 'arguement' or I like to call them discussions if I'm honest.

So don't be condescending because you don't agree with someone.

It’s 3 bits of DLC, not 1. Not all GOTY editions contain everything on disc, in fact very few do these days.

The Xenoblade standalone is a code in a box. It’s pointless and a waste of plastic.

It’s not condescending to give my opinion on your opinion just because you disagree with it. What’s condescending is making comments like “what are you on about”. Which in itself is quite laughable considering you thought this only had one piece of DLC with it. (edited)

It's the same as any 'GOTY' 'Gold' re-release that includes additional content. Not all content is free.

Just ordered this as will be trading in my original copy for £27 @ Game so £3 for the season pass is a pretty decent deal if you ask me, plus will be able to get more coins hopefully. (edited)
