This is a really good quality socket set (with a lifetime guarantee) and it's never been this cheap.

Full price of £270 is a bit fictional, but I think it's normally about £180. I thought it was a bargain when I got one for £115 last year, but for £80.75 with the voucher code WORKSHOP15, this is an absolute steal.

No delivery currently available, but plenty in stock locally.

I've been so tempted by this recently, especially with the recent 20% off eBay code. Alas, I own pretty much all these tools, just not in one case like this....so convenience would be the only reason to buy it.

These are the old type sockets currently selling alongside the new hex types. Flats are better when your bolts are rusted and a few years old. Think these were selling for £120 when on sale and current set.

paid between £120 and £150 for mine about 6-7 years ago. Although I am not a heavy user they have never let me down. Good buy if you need a comprehensive new set

Great set, ive had these for a good 9 years ish. The only thing I'd invest in, is a cut piece of foam for laying across it, as a load of the bits have a terrible habit of falling out and around in the case...

The newer sets I’ve seen, no longer have imperial sockets in them. About time too.
This is a good deal, I see them getting cheaper to get rid entirely soon.

I think their rule is "replace item like for like or for an equivalent item" or something like that.
The new sets are already on their website.

Seems like the main thing of value you get vs the cheaper sets (when they are on offer) is the rachet spanners, which are great, but only if you will be doing lots of jobs in confined spaces.

    Hot though, still good tools.

Regarding the flats, I understand theory behind it where you can put more force using flats but I have never found them to work better against rusted bolts. The spline ones or 12 point always worked better for me for rusted bolts.

They àre slowly phasing the old styles sets out as they introduce new designs. Will only be whàt is left in-store.

I have a set of these as well as some established tools I have used for years. I do not think these will stand the really heavy use my old set has but they are a very good addition and occasionally you need two of the same tool. The ratchets are a bit noisier, I have added some grease which helps. The moving bits are not guaranteed but if you use them as they should be used, they should be fine. The set has got me out of tricky situations a few times thanks to extra sockets and bars.
    Well worth having. (edited)

Got the larger set a few years ago, tools going strong and nice to have a lifetime warranty included on them. The clips on the box can be a bit flimsy and also recommend cutting down a piece of cardboard to put inside to stop all the bits shifting. (edited)

Shame, I think on the last bank holiday discount the trade price was significantly cheaper than the sale price!

Did the same but screwed the foam piece into the box with a small self tapper.

I've had one of these sets for about six years for light DIY use and I think the tools are great.
They feel like they're of reasonably high quality in my hands. I recall they may be made by Cobra tools. I hardly ever use the Imperial sockets though. One of the box catches has come off the blow moulded case and I use a small strap to keep it closed. It does need something as mentioned above to keep the tools in place. A great set for the price though, I think I paid £99 for mine. (edited)

I thought that too at first, but as you go through the reservation process you can still input a voucher code and it discounts to £80.75 to pay in store

I have this set. The main annoyance is there is no 19mm spanner despite this being in the normal ratchet spanner set... Other than that it is pretty good.

You were lucky to get that. The rules for AA discount state "10% Off everything in store at Halfords using discount code through the AA App. Terms & Conditions: ... It cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, voucher, colleague discount or exchanged for cash. "

They’re reduced as they’re doing a “new range” - which as far as I can see is pretty much the same but with a breaker bar (and twice the price)

I’ve had a 150 piece set for years, although having lent it out a few times it was probably down to about 130!

Did click and collect but they only had one left in the store room and it had many bits missing, ended up just buying a few odds and ends from that to make mine back up to 150 again!
