In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.

sorted byI don't think anyone can explain what's good about a game, some people like it and some people don't. I love it because firstly the atmosphere the game projects is pretty magical. It evokes the feeling of being stuck in deep space. In terms of game play it feels like seat of your pants stuff, facing off against powerful opponents and managing to get out alive (just). Coming up with little tactics to survive and gradually improve your ship is cool.
I actually think it's most similar to Solitare, the card game. Every run is like a new game of solitare, you don't know whether you can win or not. During the game you can make all the right choices and still lose and often you won't know you're going to lose until it's too late, although after a while you do feel like any bad event has just cost you the entire run.
For anyone reading this, be aware that you're supposed to pause the game frequently. 90% of the time you're probably going to be paused thinking about what decision to make. It takes a while to learn too so I don't think it's possible to figure out in just 5 mins, that's barely enough time for a single battle
Had a lot of fun teleporting onto enemy ships and wiping entire crews out just to get more loot or bonus crew members.
I'd definitely recommend getting it if you don't already own it on Steam and/or iOS (Like me).
Speaking of iOS, it's currently on sale for iPad at £2.99 for a limited time. It may not be free, but the touch controls, achievements and portability might appeal to some.
By the way, the next game is Hyper Light Drifter.
Just some advice for potential new players out there. You might feel the RNG at times is unfair and shafting you over. The beauty of this game is learning how to deal with what RNG throws at you and destroying the flagship despite the odds.
That's a good guess. Another duplicate would be pretty disappointing, mind.
No, just make sure you are logged in and then complete the order (even though it is a free game you have to go through their checkout system as if you are buying it) it is yours to download whenever you like. So absolutely no reason not to claim these, even if you have them on other platforms, it literally takes a few clicks... (edited)
Nice freebie, but I hope they give us something a little bit newer next though, nothing wrong with older games but it just dramatically increases the odds someone has already bought it elsewhere so won't benefit... (edited)
I have been happily ignoring the Epic freebies for some time, but Superhot broke my resolve and my collection commenced.
I'm now adding to my freebie collection like its the early days of Steam.
No doubt I will break my resolve and end up buying Borderlands 3.
Damn! (edited)
Remember to pause with the space bar. It is your friend. I also recommend putting autofire on.
If you have intruders put your crew in the medbay and open all the exterior and interior doors apart from the medbay. Then laugh and laugh and laugh as you annhiliate them.
Dude - he's clearly trolling. Why, I have absolutely no idea...

Kerbal Space Program isn't on the Epic Store, however it is on Steam at 75% off currently, enjoy! (edited)
I'll have another go thanks for the advice...
Also, awesome OST by Ben Prunty.... soooo spacey
The genius of this game is you can sink a couple of hours into it, or just do a single battle while having a cup of tea.
The replay ability is immense, just when you've got it sussed, a scout drone will turn up with the exact combination of weapons to completely stuff you over...
Are you posting in the right thread? The RRP is only £6.99.
What??? No way did you pay £40 for this.
For a digital-only game?
Not necessarily, but I'm baffled why you'd buy a digital-only game from ebay or gumtree without some awareness of its typical selling price, especially during one of a Steam's biggest annual sale periods.
It does seem that way, yes
It's basically confirmed with the teaser image and this: epicdata.info/off…bcc If only it was The Messenger, the only game I missed
Heat
As far as I'm aware, until today FTL wasn't on the Epic store either.
If you're good at multitasking you should be very good at this.
shame on youyou have no excuse not to play it now.Sometimes it sticks, go log in/out first, oh and accept cookies (edited)
Yea, same result. All I have is a green spot against my account name.
I hope they put subnautica back up at some point, I missed that one.
