sorted byIt was fully remade for the Gamecube in the early 2000s and that version was later subtly remastered and ported to current gen consoles. You can buy it digitally or as part of the 'Origins' collection on disc along with a remaster of Resident Evil 0.
Check out nexusmods website, loads to check out for this game.
Oh man you're in for a treat! It already looks fantastic on PS4 Pro (including a rock solid 60fps, somehow) so I imagine it would look sublime on a decent PC, especially if you have a RTX card. The HDR implementation was pretty poor at launch (shadows were muddy and grey no matter what settings I tried). Luckily SDR still looked great and having just reinstalled it months later, HDR is much better. Headphones highly recommended! Also, bit of a niche tip, but if you have a high refresh monitor (or unlock the framerate/disable v-sync), the knife does way more damage per swing because the damage output is tied to framerate rather than a flat value per attack. So if you're in a pinch with little ammo, optimise for framerate and the knife will save you!
Which mods ?
It's a quintessential survival horror game, you're not supposed to be Rambo! You have to pick your shots, you can't just blow away every single enemy you come across. That said, you can earn very powerful weapons with unlimited ammo (or just buy them as DLC) and/or play on amateur to have a much smoother ride.
You don't even have to "hope" that they don't bite you. You can use your noggin! Run around them, use flashbangs, shoot them once in the head to stun them and run past them, or just keep your distance and wait for them to shuffle far enough away to clear a path.
A huge part of the satisfaction of this game (in my opinion) is the oppressive atmosphere and sense of dread, which is augmented by the fact that enemies are pretty tough and resources are limited. That's where the series went wrong with Resi 5 and 6 - they became bland action games and lost the essence of what makes good survival horror. I'm so glad that this game and Resi 7 have found that essence again.
Since seeing your post I gave WeMod a try and it's been a lot of fun. I've done a couple of speed runs with Claire. I was surprised how quick the game can be done with the mods.
Agreed this is a must buy game.
Is this first person or just third person player?
This is 3rd person. First person was Resident Evil 7
Thank you.
they made re-master of 1st part few years ago with HD textures.
Seems to be just models and texture mods, with a couple of reshades ... am i missing something which adds to the game?

Honestly this is well worth it at full price let alone £10
I brought the original back on the PS1 and the pc back in the day and this is not just the same game with updated graphics.
And yet if I wait another 6 months or so it will be £5.
It’s not as if I don’t have an originally ultimate epic backlog of steaming games!
I'm sure your right it will keep dropping. I have a backlog to but I bit at £12 and this pushed its way into my queue at the top of the list. I really should finish max Payne 3 thlough first but well we're see
I loved Resi 2 on the PS1, hadn't played a Resi game then up until 7 biohazard and absolutely loved it. I got Resi 2 free with a graphics card but hadn't touched it. I look forward to giving it a go now based on your recommendation. Sounds excellent.
I have a Nvidia 1080 on a 144hz monitor and a Nvidia 2060 RTX with a 120hz panel in my laptop. Will install it and give it a go on both. Thanks mate!
You can get a first person mod
Im too scared to get past the police station and ive had the game since launch
Thanks
Such a great mod app for PC gaming. Glad you gave it a go mate.
I hadn't heard of it before. I might have to try an re7 speedrun. I'll also try it with some of my other games. Very easy to use.
