sorted byIt supports up to 64GB, that is a mistake on the AWD website
Edit: Supports up to 128GB with it being a Zen2 CPU (edited)
Your funny
It's not worth £100 less, it's an OEM part that is not usually for retail, it has the same difference than the 3600 and the 3600x which are typically priced wihtin £30-40 of one and other
Regardless of how correct this comment is, shouldn't you be voting on the deal itself? Don't get me wrong this community is great and I really value people like yourself providing pros / cons / technical info of a specific product, its what makes this site great. But surely you should just provide the info and not vote cold because it isn't for you, especially as 32gb is overkill for most people's needs!?!
That's the 3900X, this is the 3900, which is worth about £100 less.
Yes this would be great for what you need, I would usually say get a cheaper CPU but there is only a £30 difference between this and the 3700X here and it's the same price as the 3800X bundle here and an extra £100 for the 3900x here
You and the AWD website are both wrong. It actually supports 128GB of RAM with a Zen2 based CPU. e.g. the one included with theis deal.
According to that AM4 VRM spreadsheet doing the rounds, pretty good:

With a new sound proof (ish) chassis and NVMe drive works super fast
Gaming benchmarks have like zero difference too, not sure about workloads but I'd expect it to be the same
All you need is a run of the mill CPU and a gpu that supports 4 simultaneous outputs.
Which piece did you win in a raffle? The i7 or the 1000 quid card?
If you own a 2080 t.i. you would know even an i7 8700k / i5 10600K / i7 9700k would kick the sh1t out of this cpu for gaming. A twin chiplet r5 3600 is not going to compete.
Have a think before you respond.

Long story short - yes it's not a full X chip, but it's also a fraction of the price. With a decent motherboard and PBO enabled it performs at or above the 3900X default levels, while running cooler and using less power - and leaving £100 extra in your pocket.
At worst it's a tiny bit slower in some games than a 3700X, anything multithreaded (and let's be honest with next gen consoles being 8+ cores, games are going multicore) it's an absolute beast.
The chances of the 4000 series 12 core being anything like this price? No chance. Grab this with a decent board and enjoy the performance until AM4 dies, then buy a top of the range 4x series 2nd hand for cheap
Ordered on a friday. Was delivered on the tuesday after. Didnt get a tracking number, only a txt from dpd on the morning of delivery giving 1 hour timeslot
The GPU is fine IMO, although, it depends what you will be using the machine for?
Primarily will be using it for light video editing and gaming/unreal engine. Nothing too intensive though as it manages okay currently, just wanted a bit more power for the future. I'm not a hardcore gamer
Excellent, thanks very much for the advice! Appreciate it
My AWD-IT came in the motherboard box with all original bits - the CPU had no box. It also wasn’t properly assembled so make sure you check it over yourself before installing it - for me it was the screws on the CPU holder that very obviously weren’t tightened up. (edited)
Yeah, it is about £490 for DDR4 PC 3200 MHz stuff. Which puts it at about the same price as 16Gb (2x 8GB) in terms of cost per GB, roughly £61. (edited)
The X variant carries a c25% premium to the non-X variant, so while £100 might have been a bit high it's close.
The difference will almost certainly be in binning, ie the X variant will likely be able to turbo higher / longer. Like you say, though, won't be much difference in gaming, but then again there won't be much difference between this and a 3600 either using current benchmarks!
Worth noting the non-X variant has a lower TDP so will run cooler and have lower total power draw.
Yeah, think the 3900X is 105 TDP and this is 65 TDP and this has a 0.5GHz lower turbo clock
Oh absolutely, not questioning the value of this deal, it's incredible to think you can get a 12C CPU with a mobo at this price!
Not sure how the MSI X470 fairs in terms of VRAMs, but the Gaming version is usually one of the better ones so should be OK.
Yes, but you're probably spending too much money. From what you said you will never get anywhere near its limits. (edited)
I have one, bought it from the previous b450 tomohawk deal, haven't looked back since. Cinebench r20 score is around 6700
I got a B450 / 3700x bundle last month - it came pre-assembled in the original motherboard box. No CPU packaging though.
Nice, my 2600X scores around 3000, so that's a little above double, which accounts for the IPC increase of Zen 2.
Good price OP, CPU alone was this much not long ago, so for a mid-range x470 board to boot, is awesome!
Not looking at the moment personally, closing my eyes, fingers in-ears, LALALALALALALa!
Maybe when Zen 3, or even zen 4 comes out end of next year-ish. But I have been known to change my mind.
The ryzen 4XXX cpu's that are coming will have a roughly 10% IPC gain from the looks of the early engineering sample benchmark "leaks" ( I use that term loosely, allowing data to be accumulated on external benchmark sites is very likely aimed at dissuading possible intel gen 10 customers )
It also looks like there will be a small frequency increase. So they will probably roughly match or slightly beat intel for high fps gaming.(but tiny margins).
Anyway, you dont need 12 cores if you have been getting by with a 2011 i5!
Buy the next gen £400 nvidia card ( the 980 was 400) and 4xxx 8 core if you favor hi refresh gaming, if not save a 100 and buy a 3700x cpu for sub £250.
The humble r5 3600 is 3x more powerful than your overclocked i5 2500k , BTW. (edited)
Oh the irony.
Yup, only been following pc building since ~2000, its not surprising nobody can understand your point, you never made one. Ye GADS, theres nothing worse than a smart alec thinks everybody else is a dummy.
Hey, GPU and RAM sound strong, go for a b450 board and an R5 3600 or 3600x and you'll be laughing. Can always update the gpu down the line if you want as well
Secondly is there a ready made setup with similar spec and maybe cost less? (edited)
