Are you aware of the requirements for an ESTA for a tourist?
Yes you do
You will need to get a visa or an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) visa waiver to enter or transit the USA as a visitor. You should consult the US State Department website to determine which you will need.
This hotel was until recently the Clarion. It is now the Rosen Inn - Lake Buena Vista. We have stated there many times and it is so convenient for our needs.
On a goid day, it can be as little as 5 minutes to get on Disney property.
Hire cars are a joke at the moment, I've just paid £1400 for one from San Francisco.
But I did get a deal for £180 in Melbourne, I hired from Hertz just away from the airport, an Uber was $5.40 to get there, but I did find some deals on skyscanner for around £350 at the airport and the time before I went I got a deal going through the auto Europe USA site and that was about £230
It's for the cruises annoying as only 1 in 5 passenger are for the cruise but they probably done a banging deal as they have pretty much rebuilt the whole airport around Tui and literally can't do enough for the tourists there (edited)
Is it free or how long it will take?
Thanks in advance
I don't think this is that Rosen? This isn't at Ponte or on IDrive, it's nearer Lake Buena Vista. I only know as a friend said to make sure not to get mixed up with Rosen locations when we were booking and this one was a bit out of the way so needed a car. Might have changed. Worth noting is a great deal but then you've all the extras on top. This hotel is always the cheapest on any search I do for Orlando and we've never booked due to the location. We've stayed in the Pointe one, which seems to be getting more expensive every time I look...... though if its not too far out and you're happy to drive, or alternatively uber (was reasonable). (edited)
You're correct, this one is quite a way from international drive (around 15 - 20 minutes drive) but is close to Disney Springs. I think there are 5 Rosen's on international drive - rosen centre, rosen plaza, rosen pointe, rosen international and rosen closest to universal. (edited)
Disney is always busy and park booking is to benefit Disney by getting people to go when they want, not when the customer wants. It’s here to stay and might reduce peaks and get crowds in when quiet, at least that’s the theory.
I don’t think June is that bad, April and December are! You can look on crowd calendars and YouTube vlogs.
Yes the Dollar is very strong so not good for us wanting to visit. I’ve waited a couple of years to go back, what’s another two! (edited)
If you can't afford the $14 ESTA charge then may I gently suggest you probably can't afford a trip to Orlando?
I’ve heard it’s not the same any more. They’re doing their best to get every penny out of you and the fast pass scheme is a joke. You’re lucky to get on 3-4 rides in a day apparently.
Plus the new crappy Genie (Jafar) Plus and paid lightning lanes! No thanks Disney!
That's what put me off too ,hire car prices paid £320 of an SUV in 2019 for 2 weeks , increased fuel cost Paid 2.29 a gallon now around 7.50 a gallon , food costs have risen also and the fact Disney is a pre book ,so could have 14 day pass and only get in 4 days due to capacity limits
Yes it is in lake Buena vista stayed there in 1995 and again in 2019 (edited)
Some of us even with a British Passport need a visa.
If you've been to certain countries in the last 5 years like.. Iran, Iraq, Libya, etc need to get a physical visa to make make the journey to the land of plenty
Or if you are a dual national from certain countries.
Read the ESTA website carefully
Yip you're right, but it's always the cheapest every time and as we don't drive we didn't go for it.For Disney great, but if you're IDrive and Universal is not quite as handy. We have also stayed in another Clarion down near Universal and it was great took the other itrolley line up and down was fab and quick. Just the location here isn't ideal if you're not bothered with Disney. We hadn't done those last time. However, expecting to in future again as Starwars is a bigger pull now for our young men folk. So maybe a contender
The cruise thing makes sense, thanks for the insight. I remember going on the old Travelcity Direct Jumbos into Sanford and driving down to Kissimee
Sorry what a colleague at work told me it's 4.50 for petrol and 5.30 for diesel on average , hit record highs today apparently
Not true, when did you last go? I have been 3 times so far this year and haven't experienced any of that ...... the only difference is book your restaurants other than that it's completely normal
Don't need visa for tourist.
Yep, standard now unfortunately most places because of COVID
Correct, park booking is the new thing.
im just flying back from two weeks. It was busy but nothing crazy, just as before (maybe a little busier sometimes) so I’d say June would be similar, probably quieter given it’s off peak and hurricane season tbh.
This one does have a lovely Japanese, Brazilian steakhouse, arcade bar and hooters just a 5 min walk away though with no roads to cross (edited)
TUI are using Melbourne now instead of Sanford.
Not sure why as its further from the parks (probably money). I'd rather pay a bit more and them fly to Orlando Int.
You would WANT to land in Melbourne or Tampa! Its the difference between night and day.
Gas is how much!
Their slot was up at Sanford and they wanted to be nearer the Cruise ships. A lot of investment was happening at Melbourne Airport, so they moved. As you said, it's much further away though :-(
Sanford was great, very easy to get through arrivals and get hire car. Much better than Orlando International, which takes ages, then luggage collection, on monorail, then luggage again and finally car hire etc etc.
I agree, when I went to Florida in the past prices were great but that has all changed now.
