yes 30hz in 4K looks really bad. I did not reealise this until i used 2nd 4K screen in surface pro. had to lower the res to get 60fps.
If you plan to use it for just 1080p (full HD) it is a go for item.

Urgh. I used to screen mirror when on holiday too. Sounds like Netflix & Prime have got stricter. How silly, as it won't stop pirates and pirates won't have such problems casting media.

Roku's will now, in theory, work with Hotel WiFi streams, if that's any use to you? They push the HTML WiFi login screen to the phone. (Didn't work with Premier Inn last time I tried though.)

Just to confirm..... Is this good for Nintendo switch?

Nope. Won't work with a switch. Well, it will as a USB hub, but the HDMI port won't work.

I have a similar one for my Switch which does have a USB C power input too, guess I need something similar to that.Though on three other hand in unlikely to use it in desktop mode for long and won'tb ever be playing games like that, so maybe I don't need charging. I'll have a think.

I paid £21 on Amazon for something very similar to this a couple of years back, to allow me to connect a normal wireless keyboard & mouse and a monitor to my work MacBook, it works perfectly and still has loads of ports to spare. The alternative was to pay eye-watering prices for even third-party "Apple-compatible" kit.

    Voted hot (edited)

Silly question but is the HDMI connector the 'big' one that most TVs have (not the diddy sized one you often find on tablets)?

Also, whilst I'm sure this is a good deal, does anyone have a recommendation for something a bit cheaper? I just want one USB-C port & one HDMI output to connect my Poco F3 up to a 1080p TV when I'm abroad on holiday.

Been using the same model myself while waiting for the official Steam Deck dock.

Its pretty decent to use the Deck as a controller (screen turns off) while its powering an external monitor/tv.

Desktop mode it pretty decent too! (edited)

Are you are the Poco F3 can do HDMI out via the USB C port? I know X3 Pro can't.

My work laptop only supports 4k30hz on a 2nd screen for some reason. It's not g ré au but I prefer that over 2k60hz

Yes, very important for people to know, as scrolling at 30hz will drive you INSANE.

I got one of these as an impulse buy, my phone keyboard stopped working because I was a little over zealous with my phone cleaner and wiped the default keyboards, only choice was a format because I couldn't enter my pin or pass. Attached this and a full size USB keyboard and I was back in the game.
