Gigabyte GC-WBAX200 2400Mbps PCI Express WiFi Adapter £32.34 @ ebay cclcomputers
Posted 10th AugPosted 10th Aug
A bit cheaper than the earlier deal. Ccl computers eBay store instead of website

Actually you can also use a regular usb A to usb A cable (not included). I barely use my corsair psu monitoring which was taking up a usb header so I used that

Thanks Zochus, will get it ordered (highfive)

I have mine connected into PCI-e slot x16 it will work

Hi, It's a Dell Optiplex 7020. I have a 1050ti sitting in the PCI Express 16 slot (5) which covers the PCIe slot. I was hoping I could place at the bottom of the case in the PCI Express x16 slot (wired as X4), but that is only a guess based on Pin similarities.〈=en-us

i need one but with ethernet and 4k 60hz any ideas?

I think this is a decent deal. I needed one to connect my macbook to my monitor and had to settle about 12/18 months ago for a Lenovo one for £32. This might be okay for people who just need the connection and dont care about 4k video.

I would have thought these would have ethernet as well.... Would make sense

Not quite true. For example I have one that I use to connect my iPad Pro to the TV, has 1 x HDMI 2.0 4K60 port, 1 x USB-C Power Delivery and 1 x USB3. It was £15 at the time. So no, they are not necessarily more expensive. Also it depends on each individual device as to what the USB-C ports are capable of. My advice still stands which is that anyone looking for this who is intending to make use of the HDMI output needs to be aware that it is throttled to 1080p if you want a decent frame rate. :)

What's your review on this, regardless of the 4k at 60hz? Looking for a USB C hub but can't make my mind up, on this one or this one.

I don't believe the Pro 7 has a mini display port socket so I would say no. Surface Pro 4 does.

Will this connect a Surface pro 7 to a monitor?

This is why this site is amazing! I need this as I have a VGA KVM switch. Nice one, OP. And if anyone wants to see further signs of madness then just yesterday I felt I had to order a mini-DP to DP adapter. I wonder if that's going to end up taking up drawer space for the next few decades....

Very few use cases for this, still a decent price though.

If it was MDP to HDMI I would need this.

I will get back to you. Just that I’m going to have to go behind my TV to see what the bloody thing is called. I’ve used dozens of them.

Great, a link would be awesome, thank you!

The V1 is a particular pain in the botty. I did manage to find a combination of splitter and switch that does work for my setup. It was a pretty cheap one that I used to replace an expensive Aten splitter that just would not work with the VR. What happens, is when the VR is on, you get a multi display of sorts (the PS4 tv screen and headset display the same image at different resolutions). When you start the game, the TV screen temporarily switches to show nothing, and everything is on the VR headset. Then TV screen will show a different image to what’s on the VR Headset (you know what I mean). It’s the series of quick display switches and resolutions that cause an issue. There’s just too much handshaking and waiting going on. With the Aten splitter, what ends up happening, is that both the VR headset and the TV get stuck in a semi switch loading phase and cannot display an image. Everything is waiting for everything else to synchronise. The PS4, the processor unit, your splitter and your TV. And in my case I had a switch in there too. It gets complicated. The Aten splitter on paper should be perfect. 4K, HDR 4:4:4. But it’s not happening. It seems to affect some games more than others. I put it down to games that display a completely different image between screen and headset at any one time (usually initial load where the tv screen displays some sort of Health and Safety message and the headset is doing its make sure you’re all clear thing, or just something else entirely). I even posted the problem on here years ago but no one knew what I was on about. In the end I managed to find one that works. I can find out what it is and give you a link. But again, that works for me and my TV and set up. It still might not work for you.

Thank you for your comment, that makes complete sense, at the moment I am using an hdmi extension cable pinned to the back of my tv going to the vr and a small 10cm extension from the hdmi port on the tv to save ruining the TVs port. it's all just there when I need to switch it over. I think after reading this I'll stick with what I have. Thanks again (y)

Generally speaking you are looking for BS and numbers on extension lead. As example BG or masterplug both list as compliant with british standards. Also they confidently provide extended warranties (how good they are not sure as did not have to use it yet). Essentially these chinese extensions will work too just like I said manufacturers need to be a little bit more honest with their ratings and specs. Rated power overstatement is dangerous game as people will take it for granted. As they are out of reach hardly anyone can sue them for misleading product or damages caused. Masterplug UK company so they have to stand for their name and reputation. Yes maybe they don't have fancy design or features but investing into USB extension lead is not worth effort as its not efficient either. Easier to buy solid quality switched extension and buy reputable brand usb power brick. If brick fails just buy new one up to date with current demand. high-gloss usb not switched Switched Extension Lead - 4/6 Socket datasheet example Standard(s)Maximum Load (Wattage)This product is certified to applicable British safety standardsBS5733, BS EN 60950-1 I have few chinese extensions round house but seriously there hardly any load on them. Since I had 2 melting down don't bother much with them anymore. Plenty pictures on amazon with similar experiences.

Unless you're plugging in standard kettle leads, it doesn't look like you'd be able to use all of the sockets. Sadly quite a lot have this issue.

Thanks, but in other words, you don't know of anything like this but with individual switches? No problem.

but probably you could get that somewhere but of course needs to pay extra i guess

Why are people so desperate to put up the Hozelock connector "deals"? They are no better, if not worse, quality than the all metal units you can get from Aldi or Lidl. Whilst much of Hozelock's product range is quite good quality, these are just plastic connectors that will go brittle when left out in the winter, and are easier to break when dropped.

But there is no 256GB High Endurance model. Feh. "Max Endurance" range goes that high but costs £90!!

Thanks for the advice. Endurance is more of a concern than speed in my case. My daily workflow would be, having finished a work session: initiate backups of local data to both my NAS and a local micro SD. The NAS also does a nightly mirror backup sync to a second hard disk. So every night I'd have the same data in four places. Belt and braces. Now that SD card capacities are as hefty as they are, I think it makes this kinda feasible. And I'd just leave the backup going while I'm doing other things. I have external drives and I'd probably set one up as another backup, but that's not quite as convenient as having a microSD in all the time. :)

Nice one, ordered a couple (y)

awesome card I have the 32gb one for the dashcam I used to have issues with the regular card and continuity of clips but with this one its smooth and all clips match up perfectly

I have these cards in all my CCTV cameras, they are still working fine. I’ve had this brand / model card in some cameras for over a year without any issues. I also use these same cards in my Front & Rear mounted dash cams, and they are still working after being cooked in the mini heatwave we had a week or so back.
