It will still be possible to purchase using account credit until March 2023, it's just that the means to add credit start to become more limited in a few days' time.

    Is this game super tough?

Pretty old school I'd say. I find it easier on the 3ds, probably due to the d-pad, than on the Switch but it's still tough. If you can master the mechanics in each game you'll be ok but it takes a fair while. I found the bosses beatable it was more the platforming I struggled with but it's very playable and practice pays off

I found it was hard but fair. Easier than Smb3 and mega man 2.

Ah, good shout, i hadn't spotted that.

I really don't need to buy the game on yet another platform, but...

The physical is going for £30. So super hot. Nice 3D effect as well.

Good to know, looking for opinions on the 3DS version. Ideally wanted it on Switch but nowhere near this cheap (best seems to be about £20 for physical). Though I have a Wii U, I feel this game is really well suited to handheld play. As I have a New 3DS XL that could be a good alternative way to play it, especially if the 3D effect actually adds to the game.

Are these older 3DS/Wii U versions completely feature and content comparable to newer versions like the Switch or does the Switch one have some stuff not in these?

Just imagine the chaos when games of this calibre this go on a digital sale if there’s a limited quantity available

From what I remember, Switch has co-op in Shovel of Hope which 3ds lacks. 3ds also doesn't have Showdown. The lower screen and Stereoscopic 3d on the 3ds version make it great to play though

Not bothered about multiplayer, so coop of no consequence, what is showdown though?

It's a separate game in it's own right, that's included in Treasure Trove on Switch and Wii U. It's also available separately for Switch

There is not a bad version around really. The price is very cheap for the amount of game you are getting.

They really need to make this not £35.99 on Switch digital, it's crazy. Cartridge is cheaper but still.

I think Yacht Club Games have actually said that they consider the 3ds version of Shovel Knight the definitive version because of all the extra work they put in to make the 3d effect work as well as it does. twitter.com/Yac…088 (edited)
