sorted byNot sure about cats and I'd imagine some may claw it. These are ideal for dogs, some of whom are prone to overheating in hot weather and can often be found lying on tiled floors in summer, to cool down.
One of the more important things, that seems to be lost on many dog owners, is not to walk dogs in the blazing heat and to carry water for them, when it's hot.
Heat added. (edited)
Did you put it in the freezer first? I'm not sure about this one, but the ones I have are supposed to be left in the freezer overnight.
I get them out in the morning and put them under the dog's blanket in his bed and he seems happy with that.
My dog does this, goes to find the coldest floor in the house.
I bought him one of these and he just slept on the tiled floor next to it.
This thing didn't get any cooler than the tiles in a shaded room, so ended up being pointless for us.
He loves ice cubes and frozen Kongs as snacks through the summer as well.
Hmm pretty sure pets would prefer to lye down on warm area, as opposed to a cold one! Our kitty definitely does!
They sell these in B&M as well (edited)
The whole point of this is not to add heat, isn't it?
I'm not sure if the one's I bought were advertised as self cooling, they looked exactly the same and I've no idea how they would achieve this. They appear to have some gel impregnated foam inside that remains cold for longer after being placed in a cold environment.
We also looked into raised beds, which seem like a good idea, but our chap was pretty elderly and we felt he might become a bit unstable getting off it when sleepy.
I didn’t even think to check! Tbh, I think the picture of the retriever on it makes it look bigger. Mine measures correctly vs the write up. 710mm x 510mm
Yeah maybe these are more for dogs.
I didn't try that. The one I bought and this one are advertised as 'self cooling' and 'no fridge/freezer required'.
We gave up in the end when we realised the tiles were cold enough.
Do you put it under your sheet?
A warm area to lie down will be the last thing on a pets mind during a a heatwave .
That's right, it's a cooling mat. (edited)
No one is forcing you to buy it. Make a better one yourself then.
Fair enough. On the box it says medium whereas the paperwork says large. Don't think it matters to be honest
