Even then the TV and original packaging must be pristine!

Well as a repair guy i can tell you most led tellies fail between 4-5 years so Richer sounds is clever and generous with the 6 year warranty most of the time they fail with a single 50p light emitting diode in the array strip for the backlight so if you still hear sounds but no picture all you need to do is check youttube for how to fix it its the most common fault on led tellies!

It's a basic 4K TV with low brightness and low contrast, and slightly flimsy build quality.

It might be a big brand, but don't expect miracles.

£240 is a great price though. (edited)

Isn't it better paying£300 from Ruched Sounds with 6 year warranty?

It's only a £239 TV, I'd rather save the £60 personally. It's not like it's an OLED where you might be concerned about burn-in and might need the additional warranty.

Would Richer Sounds price match this for 240?

Nope, they will claim it has less warranty and they offer 6 so they won't price match.
Basically their warranty always higher means they will virtually never actually have to do that price match lol!

Some calibration settings here for the UP7000 series but should apply equally to the UP7500 and 8000.

Not as good as specifically calibrating your own panel, but it will definitely give an improvement over stock settings and help unleash the potential. Having settings like this is a real bonus for cheaper sets.

    rtings.com/tv/…ngs

There's a guy on YouTube with a decent basic setting guide, too. He also has calibration settings for this specific set but charges a small fee (group buy anyone? ):

I highly recommend taking advantage of some of those settings.

I have a 12 year old LG 32" that I used someone's calibration settings for and the picture is still surprisingly good after all these years.

I have a 55" Sony too, and spent the first 6 months of ownership being disappointed by the picture until someone on avforums calibrated one and I copied the settings. Suddenly the cold and lifeless image was warmer and more vibrant without being overdone.

I think Amazon did sell this a few days ago, but I'm sure they've only been fulfilling sales from the likes of Hughes and Reliant in the last couple of days.

This has only reduced further because of eBay's promo, as LG seem to have recently reduced to £299 with their retail partners.

Just called them, needs to be a comparable guarantee for price match

Just my luck, I have ordered this TV from Richer Sounds for £289 and is being delivered in about an hours time. Oh well, at least I have the 6 year warranty.
This TV will replace an 8 year old LG 55UH650V which was a good TV in it's day but has recently started to look a bit dim in dark scenes and the reds also seem to be over saturated.

I’ve used similar boxes in the past, many of which are used. Partly to use dodgy feeds, not for me or most. They just want the usual channels without the set top box.

I'm pretty sure most LED TVs don't fail after 4-5 years, not sure where you got this statistic from. A lot of TVs can easily last a minimum of 10 years even with heavy usage.

Interesting to hear your perspective on this. How do TV's differ from monitors? I have loads of monitors and I can't recall one failure - the odd pixel on one, but that's it?
Do those TV's you see have a lot of in use time?
Does longevity vary between brand/price point, I mean, you'd hope better panels last longer right?

Yeah, I have had loads of led TV (purchased for different rooms/family members) and most are still fine, I bought my first lg led TV in 2012, I don't use it anymore as I upgraded for size and picture quality but it still works.

The 50 inch AU9000 has been £300 I could have had it but some said no improvement in freeview HD picture from my 12 year old Samsung and yes AU9000 has terrible sound ! Would get the Q60AA on here for £399 but again bad sound and light bleed issues I’ve read ! I’m at a loss of what new 50 inch to buy under £600 ?
