4K TVs are the next generation must have consumer buys in home TV viewing and entertainment, but can vary in quality and image processing capabilities. Upscaling images from high definition format is still one of the major functions of any 4K TV, so naturally it's a very important thing to consider before purchasing one. Supposedly a great telly and better than LG. Sony or Panasonic too: https://www.avforums.com/news/philips-9002-oled-tv-wins-blind-shootout.14195

I was pondering this TV yesterday and used the Firefox extension Honey to try all known voucher codes - managed to get £20 off. Worth a try either via the extension is looking up codes. Didn't actually buy though and now I'm sorely tempted!

Only £44 more than the prime day deal so not a bad price here.

Can only ask!

If Amazon price matches this, do you think they would refund me the difference as I paid £1300 just a couple weeks ago?

2017 model. Edit: As of 11:57 24/09, it appears to be sold out. Hope all those that wanted it, got it!

Every Sony Android tv since 2013 has been really bad

Seems to be gone now

Bought for £1844 (quidco and employee giftcard discount) Woop woop! Thanks op!

Sorry I meant in terms of maintaining the aesthetically pleasing apparent slimness unless it's into a recess.

It most certainly does include mounting it on a wall. It supports VESA Mount (400x200mm).

In theory you should be able to get this TV for 599 from richer sounds. Hughes are selling for 659, with take50 code bringing it down to 609 Richer sounds say they'll beat the price (which includes vouchers), so it'll become 599. I'm going to give it a try today on either this one or the 50 inch version

The hisense has a 120hz panel. This is a 60hz

Anyone know if there is much difference between this and the Hisense 55U7A to justify the additional cost?

No sorry so can’t comment. Football viewing motion blur is excellent imo. Bring on the haters (annoyed)

Samsung UE55NU7100 55" 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV £554 @ CoOp

Saw this when looking at the Hisense deal that was posted recently. Is this any good?

The stand is big; the picture they use must be the biggest model but the stand is the same for all sizes so although it looks okay on the largest model is is unnecessary big for the smaller screens. Having said that I bought the 55 version of the 7400 a couple of weeks ago from the co-op and it is a great tv. I have no regrets.

Sorry to jump on someone else's thread here, I've just got a question people may be able to help with. What are people's thoughts on the best budget 10bit panel 4k hdr tv? Thanks

Roads?....where we’re going we don’t need roads

How did you get a 2018 tv 2 1/2 years ago?

I got this Tv. For you doubters. Its got a great picture. Considering upgrading my “Pub” Tv with another one. Paid a fair bit for this 2 1/2 years ago. Recommended.

With the perfect blend of picture, style and features, the Hisense 55U7A is a talented all-rounder. Great price for a good tv with 120hz panel

Well in fact Hisense bought the whole R&D from Toshiba TV. And all Toshiba TV are nowadays produced by someone who got rights for the name only. As a happy owner of Toshiba TV (2013 model) I will not trust or buy any TV sold under this name. If I know wrong please correct me

It's hard to say I ask someone at marjor retailer and they said the Samsung nu7400

The Samsung is a much better screen in terms of colour reproduction.

Hmmm... Whats the difference between HDR+ and HDR...

Anybody know how this compares to the NU7400? The only differences I can see is that this has a 120hz panel and the NU7400 has HDR+.

"local dimming" its basically the same as QLED on the samsungs which is an attempt at matching LG's OLED technology on the cheap on an OLED screen signals can be sent to specific individual leds to brighten or darken the screen picture in a specific location on screen on QLED or ULED the signals are sent to a group of leds to brighten or darken according to the signals from the source blueray/dvd/tv broadcast/video game it comes under the term "local dimming"

With this having a 120hz panel, can it accept an 120hz signal from say a PC? Or can it just double 60hz content by adding in it's own frames or doubling frames already there? As the ports at the back still only say 4k/60hz, or 30hz.

Want the 65 inch version of this but at £999 I hope there will be some reduction come black Friday etc....

Not always true about buying twice if you buy cheap. In the boxing day sales a few years back my daughter and I bought the same model of LG tv and it wasn't a bottom of the range tv. It's launch price had been £899.99 for a 50" smart tv. After not much use my daughter's tv has failed. Looks like an LED fault which appears to be quite common on some LG panels. My Tv is still ok and willl see if it lasts the 5 and 7 years of my old LG models did with LCD panels which were sold still working. I doubt it will as it looks like the main failure of led tv's will actually be the small led's themselves. A good tip is to turn the backlight down as low as you can which will prolong the life of the leds. Don't believe the hype on led's that come in strip form as used in tv's. They are not going to last forever so buying cheap, especially with a 3 year warranty as advertised on some Hisense tv's could actually be the better option. Or buy from Richer Sounds and know you will be protected for up to 6 years.

Yep with code TV30 it's £30 cheaper at Richer Sounds. So why buy it from John Lewis? Unless you get them to price match? Is the code still valid?

You should look at the reviews of the 2018 QLED FALD sets. Blacks are not far off OLED. And they are way way brighter. For the vast majority of people FALD QLED is the better choice if you can afford the premium. Unless you watch TV in a pitch black room and don't care that OLED cant reproduce even the lowest HDR1000 standard. I just ebayed my 2017 OLED and after comparing to 2018 OLEDs I purchased the 2018 75" HDR2000 FALD QLED and its simply a noticeably more impressive and much more cinema like experience.

Bring on sub £2000 C8 65inch on Black Friday....

C8 often £150 more, I'm hoping for a black Friday spesh of sub £1800 at John Lewis so I can use the 12.5% discount. QLED might be bright, but blacks are still poor compared to the latest OLED sets. Maybe when real QLED sets appear, not just the current LCD sets with some fancy filter, that might change.

Yeah It was 629 last weekend and I was just about to buy it when all of a sudden it went up to 699, so I've been watching it all week and grabbed it as soon as I saw it on for 629 again. Worth keeping an eye on the price anyone interested in this TV.

Just realised this was posted as £629 - not the £689 from other retailers - price must have went up pretty quickly!

Hahaha. Brilliant!!

Sorry Lord Vader, but I have indeed seen this version. In fact, I sought it out and bought it on eBay so keen was I to see this abomination of a movie gain some reprieve. Alas, for me, it was a bit like deciding between electrocution or a burning, both horrific in different ways.

Watch the Renegade cut - Director re-did it without the stupid red sky and origin story. Still not great but miles better than the theatrical cut. Maybe kingsman 2 can have a re-cut (I.e. remove half an hour of dross)

Or Highlander one for that matter. Rewatched it with my boy the other day. Best thing ever when I was his age. It has dated something rotten. Dialogue, sound effects appalling. Music still good though.

It wasn’t terrible but it was definitely a couple of steps down from the first movie. As someone already mentioned there was no need to Americanise it.

Have got a panny 50gt60, is the jump to the b7,c7 or 8 series that drastic? Mine's still working well and under warranty, so prob makes sense for me to wait it to die naturally?

Ignorance is bliss. So what if it's used. Do you know people spend over 100 grand on used cars?

Seriously... They are at least 5 years old - you can't compare. Jesus. That said, I have an OLED screen on my phone and the burn in after 2 years is crystal clear. Terrible. But the bottom/top bars are always on screen so it's not surprising. Otherwise, no 'splodgyness'. Watching normal TV on my B7, after 9 months it looks as good as the day I got it - the same image never stays on the screen for long when watching TV. If you do have the same screen on for ages, just turn the TV off. And if playing games, as long as you get rid of the HUD every hour (pausing, cutscene, etc - should happen naturally) then that shouldn't cause burn in either. Burn in is a real issue, but only if you plan to leave the same image on screen for a very long time. Great video here of someone who encountered it:

It's a tv not a car ,Can't do HPI check on TV's.

Lol .Sure you do.Covered till 2021 so not bothered if it blows up.Best tv by a mile confirmed many times on here .

Not with a name like QLed. You can buy OLED at this price, rather than a fairly good but near standard LCD with Q blurb.

PM'ing you about this bro.

I used kodi but now with a plex pass I torrent and it’s lot more organised and don’t need to worry about finding streaming servers or buffering depends how much you watch I guess

I got one of these to replace a broken older Fire 4K box, and this really isn't that good (I only paid £25 for this on Prime Day thanks to the stacking Student Discount). I have a great wifi signal throughout the house yet it struggled to stream things without regular buffering. I nearly purchased the Ethernet port addon until I read the reviews that basically say it just makes things worse. I have since replaced it with the discounted Nvidia Shield that was posted and everything now works as it should. WHilst this is reasonably priced I really wouldn't recommend it.

They're better supported. The likes of Samsung are renowned for removing apps they no longer update/support. At least with a Fire box they are regularly supported - my old Gen 1 box still works with everything. So while the 4k TVs are okay now, there isn't a guarantee they will be in the future. At least Amazon have proven to support their devices. Also, For some it's cheaper (and makes more sense) to buy a Box than a whole new TV set. The interface is pretty fast, which can't be said for all TVs. You can also have the Fire turn on your TV from standby and switch straight to it with it's remote, which again, can't be said about some App based TVs - Turn on, wait, then load the App.

Do NOT buy a (higher end) gopro the new models are being announced thurs all the old stock prices will drop as they are really shaking up the models and specs. What i would recommend though is buying a hero 2018 cheap, and updating the firmware so its a hero 5 ( or buying a hero 5 if the price really drops ) reason being the new specs and features on the go pros basically suck unless you buy the hero 7 black, and they changed the build with fixed lenses and batteries for some obscure reason,
