Which do you prefer? I'm toying with the 85 but will save a lot of money with the 75..is it worth the extra grand or so for the 85? My main viewing will be Netflix, streaming, you tube and some TV in HD and some gaming.. Movies will be on my projector in another dedicated room..

No problem using the slightly older model KD85XG8596BU

Thanks for the info. Do you have the same model in 85 inch?

I've got one and so far quite like it. Yes the OS is pretty laggy and can struggle with basic tasks (I'm comparing it to a 5 year old Panasonic with the firefox OS, which was way more stable) but I'm pretty pleased with the picture, decent black levels and the HDR is a very noticeable improvement. Sound is also pretty poor, but I have a sound bar. I think for the money it's a good buy, if it becomes unusable for it's lag I'll use the RS warranty

I’m trying to get ahold of Richer Sounds but I bought it in November....

Have done that, can't see any complaints.

You going to keep it like that?? Mine would only sort it self out by having to turn it off and on each time. Every day!! Really? It'll only get worse. Return for refund while you can.

At this price point LG 49UM7400 is the best bet. As fully loaded as it gets.

Huh your right, could of sworn the 7100 model had Freesat. I just checked a couple of sites and their databases do list it as having Freesat as well but the individual product page's correctly say it doesn't. Guess the original literature might have had it down as having it then it got removed.

The TU7100 is just a cosmetic variant of the TU7000. The TU8500 is the first 4K model in the 2020 range with Freesat.

You would do that if you need a TV in the next week like and need to know whether to cancel it and reorder one elsewhere. Rather than waiting an undecided amount of time to be told it's not going to be honoured and then wait for a refund on top.

No, why would you do that before it's even released?

This item will be released on July 3, 2020. ^^^ taken from the amazon item page for all the other sizes for this model

anyone contacted amazon to ask them if this is going to be honored?

Ah bugger. It was 1999.99 2 days ago.

Thanks again.. A lot to think about.

The 85" at Costco is last years 2019 model and uses direct led backlighting and for £2k I'd want full array for a better brighter image at 4K. The 2020 model as featured in this very topic KD85H8096 is actually 'worse' than last years model, it only has 400Hz image processing compared to last years model that uses 1000Hz, but I'd still go for a Sony TV with full array back lighting and a better processor such as the 2019 Sony Bravia KD75XG9505 or if you must have a latest 2020 model the KD75XH9005. Sony are actively pushing their current stock and most retailers are currently offering 10% discount on Sony TV's so check with the retailer (i.e. actively ask about this if it isn't advertised) as 10% on £2k is obviously £200+ off! You'd see the difference if you could see them side by side, I appreciate most people don't have the luxury to see this but as I say, for me full array is the sweet spot in the Sony range when you're talking £2k+. (y)

Thanks for the detailed reply.. The viewing will mainly be front on. I've shortlisted something like the upcoming philips Ambilight Tvs 75pus7855 due out next week and a sony 75 in or 85 in, budget up to 2k. I know Costco have an 85in sony XG for just under 2k.

@Abs_H Sony TV's offer a good picture and their X-motion 'smoothing' tech is also very good, probably the best on 60Hz panels so it's makes fast moving images (football etc) look so much better. Some sets come with a 5 year warranty from Sony themselves and Richer bung an extra year on under their own warranty to make 6 years in total, some retailers just offer the standard 12 month warranty from Sony, or again, Richer will offer their own 6 year warranty with every TV they sell if all that makes sense. Personally, like many others I'm not a fan of TV's that use IPS panels (like the one in this topic) as they look a tad washed out compared to TV's that use a VA panel but I appreciate that some people have others in the family that sit at a 90 degree angle to their TV so wide viewing angles might be more important to them. I just want to sit facing the TV to get the best possible picture so VA panels win everytime if you're not willing or able to pay OLED prices. What size TV are you hoping to get for your £1500 budget? Let me know what size, main usage and your viewing angle and I'll send some recommendations :)

Yeah crazy.... Clueless.... I do believe out of the box performance should be measured but basic settings like contrast, brightness, colour temp and sharpness, can always be set without the need to for specialist equipment. The poor info they supply only hurts customers making the wrong decisions.

Can you get the Apple TV app on this ?

This or the PHILIPS Ambilight 55PUS8204 for extra ~£150

1 left back down to £329 ;)

It’s when they said “contrast is too bright” I had to laugh! You could say that about any tv if you have the contrast set up wrong! It’s like they don’t know there are options to adjust brightness, contrast, colour temp etc.

Depends on the app, unfortunately you will need to try out before deciding whether you want to keep Shield or not. Some sideloaded apps might work with Shield remote/controller, some will need keyboard/mouse and some will simply crash and won't work (like All4 for me) I decided to send Shield Pro back.

It also drops frames and randomly crashes when playing DirectPlay remuxes on Plex.

Does that mean that certain "other" apps we are probably not allowed to mention but give free TV, wouldn't work on this?

I did get it through Google play. Not in front of my telly at the moment but if you type in 'iptv tivimate' on an android TV, as the search, think it will come up. On a phone, only the 'tivimate companion' app comes up in Google play store, which helps install the player to fire sticks. You can also sideload tivimate from other sources as well (such as troypoint). Legit bit of software, really quick, loads of customisation options and solid performance during my time with it.

Where do you get that, I can't find it in GPlay?

Cracking deal! I've got the TX-55FZ802B which is just over a year old and it's a great OLED TV, like @drummerdave22 said QLEDs have higher brightness and are more of an all around TV, where OLEDs I feel are more catered to movies where you switch the light off and get engrossed in the vibrant colours and natural blacks you get from an OLED.

No Disney Plus and not coming any time soon :(

I bought it with the sound bar that now works out at £140 if you want to look at it that way. It was supposed to be £600 don't know about that but for this price jump in. (y)

Awesome, I'm actually going to buy it from John Lewis with the soundbar on the other deal and hadn't thought about price matching, good thinking!

I would say QLEDs are only better if you want high brightness and zero risk of screen burn. If you watch a lot of sports and have a bright room go for a QLED or LED. Otherwise OLED is the king and the Panasonic OLEDs are probably the best out there for outright picture accuracy and quality. Unless you are a big gamer then go for the LG B9/C9.

Made the mistake of buying Panasonic earlier in the year. No Disney Plus and doesn't seem to be coming any time soon :(

Not a good buy if you need good viewing angles, was slightly skeptical of the reviews which mentioned it until I saw it in Currys and the picture quality looks awful at an angle.

Does any one know where Panasonic found that gormless looking fella sitting in a car, they put on all the TV screens? There has to be a better image to use!! (lol)

Yes. 4 HDMI 2.1 ports

this still has HDMI 2.1 does it not?

I agree on the price, this is model launched at the B9 RRP I believe, and that dropped sub £1k a couple of times between Black Friday and as recently as a few weeks ago. It's not behind the C9 at all in reality. The worst part is the lack of catch-up apps, but as long as LG sort the licensing then it's all good. The whole HDMI 2.1 argument is moot really, but if people are really concerned then it's going to be a case of waiting 12 months+ for the C11 range and/or competitors who will also finally adopt HDMI 2.1. It's utterly baffling that Sony, manufacturer of the HDMI 2.1 equipped PS5, decided NOT to adopt HDMI 2.1 into their 2020 range. Almost like they don't want consumers to buy into the brand across the board.

I had w. Series sony 2008, and 2012 w6 at that time the picture quality was good, but compared to Evan my entry level XG8096 there big difference, mainly the sharpness and colour compared to previous range, plus having Google assistant voice control much more useful then the old Linux based OS.

I had one of them it had big metal bezel at the bottom I think, Sony reliability is legendary that's why they have standard 5 year warranty.

I brought my xf9005 last year can't fault it, very good quality image, especially 4k black levels are good due to full array led backlight, There sample picture also the OS has improved since oreo update, if you can afford to get XG95 the replacement to the xf9005 I would go for that, you get newer faster chipset and Bluetooth remote, otherwise xf9005 probably best TV can buy now due to it be discontinued and you pick it up for 670 from Costco. If you do decide on xf9005 you will need to update it to oreo so via USB it's quicker. The XG95 is available for 839 at Costco Birmingham. This what my xf9005 oreo main menu looks like

I have the exact same TV bought on Black Friday last year and when it comes to quality - it's not perfect as it is IPS, but it's definitely really good for the money. Of course contrast could be higher and blacks be more black, but compared to others I've seen it's really good value for money. And here you get "free" speaker, too (which actually may be useful, as I'm using mine from the beginning with cheap Anker Soundcore soundbar bought for around £20 on Amazon once, as TV's speakers are very poor and everything is better than that - but it's the same in any other TV for simmilar price)

I have just rung their store in Plymouth (actually a Panasonic Shop) and they have now sold out of new boxed ones. They are going to ring me back to see if Panasonic have any more new stock. So for now I will expire this thread, but repost it if more new stock is available.

I can’t see an option on the website to allow selection of a new/boxed one.

If genuine grab it quick before its gone!!!

Someone local is selling this model for £700 boxed as new.. should I snap it up, I want to upgrade to an oled?

Agreed. £999 for this tv brand new is hot. And I voted as such. £999 for an ex-display model however is very cold. My point is that it is not clear from the website nor the title of this deal (which I appreciate was moderated) that this is for a new TV. I still do not think the website is clear as I cannot fathom offering a used and new item for the same cost. At no point does it say New. Only Boxed. Which could well just be an ex-display model popped back in the box and delivered. Do you see the website mention 'New' anywhere? Cause I do not.
