This deal makes no sense to use, the AC system in your car only needs “regassing” if it has a leak…so you’re going to turn up, pay this money to get gas put into your system, and it’s going to leak out again until you get the leak actually fixed. I know it’s totally illegal for the garage to fill up a leaky system, but the reality is they certainly do!

I pointed this out last year when a very similar deal was posted.

You don't take your fridge in for a "regas", why would you do it for your car?

Don't take it to the ATS in Tonbridge... I took my car for a recharge last week, the clowns didn't remove the old gas before putting the new gas in. I argued with them when the AC wasn't working, the staff were rude and said my pump must have been broken before I took it in! They wouldn't even consider that they might have overfilled it. The mechanic just stormed off in a huff.

I took it to Halfords afterwards who were excellent and worked out what the problem was, but I was very lucky that ATS didn't cause major damage to my AC system. You get what you pay for...

I took advantage of this offer last month, via the Northampton branch of ATS. They did a leak test beforehand, but still the top up only kept my aircon cold for a few days. Couldn’t get through to them on the phone so had to contact ATS head office via email in order to get a refund via Groupon. Cheap but I wouldn’t bother again, not worth the aggro tbh.

Northampton - says it all. Did you manage to get it sorted elsewhere?

Good deal, mines working fine since last month.
Didn't bother with the antibac though, I believe that's just a can of spray in the cabin lol. (edited)

Couldn't do my car but got a refund from groupon live chat straight away.
Guy at the counter was overly aggressively nice, like forced to smile nice. Very odd

Used this offer to regas the r1234yf on the Wife's car not long ago. It was empty when I took the car in, wasn't sure if it was a very slow leak over 4 years or something had failed.
The mechanic said it passed the leak test, but I'm not convinced it did as he started going on about how this refrigerant doesn't last long and hopefully it lasts the summer. Needless to say it lasted 2 days before it stopped working, at least I could see the where the refrigerant leaked by using a UV torch (bottom of the condenser was glowing green).

Just for balance, I used this offer last month (Retford), they were thorough, explained the process and result and our car’s now blowing cool again

I've had this done by ATS few years ago and it's still blowing cold air, I can't complain.

Seals in the system can fail due to external factors, age could cause them to become perished and leaks occur as a result.

When the car is stationary and the vacuum test is carried out the car might be fine but once it moves, vibrations could induce small movements between pipes and seals that are large enough for small amounts of gas to escape over time. Hence why the system could potentially pass a leak test but still leak. With something like a fridge, its not in motion and is stationary, and also the environment it's kept in is a bit different to that of a car so the wear and tear rates will be considerably different.
