There`s a reason its £8 they`ll get you back with excesses even if you paid for homestart.

Please note if you do breakdown at your registered home address, a
£35 excess payment will be due before any assistance can be organised.

    Generic Excess
We reserve the right to charge excesses and or administration fees in
    various instances.
    • Misfuel, if you have put the incorrect fuel in your vehicle,
you will be required to pay a £69 excess.
    • Repeat fault, If you request assistance for the same fault
within any 90 day period we will charge a £79 excess
    • Pre existing fault, if we or our recovery mechanic or
specialist believes it is a fault that existed before the
membership plan was in place, we will charge you a £79
    excess.

yeah pre existing fault... could potentially cover anything....

Also "If you have opted and paid for our Budget Roadside Assistance &Local Recovery Membership Package there is a £49 Excess fee" for roadside assistance

currently have "Startrescue 3 star", wonder how these lot compare.... anyone used them??
i cant see any mention of excesses with Startrescue (edited)

How good are these actual companies, as I know AA are about £100+ a year, which is what I pay.

But surely this is like all things in life and you get what you pay for.
    rapid85's avatar
They try their best to find reasons not to come out. Anything that can be deemed your fault, particularly anything that could be attributed to the battery, forget it. They will also only come out to same an issue once. So if you have a second issue that could be loosely linked. Again, good luck.

This for the premium package too?

That description is a bit of a mind **** (edited)

Premium cover is £19.95 (down from £104). WELCOME and TCB reductions of 15% and 12.75% respectively should apply as per Basic cover in OP.

    Just caught your edit, so I'll try to make it clearer;

Log in to TCB and search for Groupon. Click link to Groupon offers (12.75% and 5.1% cashback currently, click get cashback now.

Link takes you to Be Smart, and register, click Categories and select Local then Automotive

    Hope that helps. (edited)

Back when we were poor students we had this on the car. Broke down on the motorway in the middle of nowhere more than 10 miles to the next junction. Called them and they said all they could do was tow us 10 miles down the motorway but not off it.

Suspect the driver would have been more sensible but as it was we judge bodged repairs at the side of the road, almost getting run over by 44 tonne lorries with the driver watching TV and veering onto the hard shoulder. Fun and games

Current breakdown service run out in July. Can I purchase it now and activate it in a month time please?
    ChloeFerguson's avatar
Hello I’ve just purchased the premium one today and the last date I can activate it is November 2022. Hope this helps

I had the free breakdown cover from BeSmart last year. One of my suspension coil springs snapped so I called them up to get towed to a garage but the adviser I spoke to didn't even know they sold breakdown cover and told me to call again in the morning?!

Luckily my partner has AutoAid so was able to use that to get towed. BeSmart seem super unprofessional in their emails and on their website with stock Latin text and broken forms appearing on it for a long time until I flagged it with them.

How long is it before you get account/order confirmation from Be Smart? I've not heard anything for about an hour...

Just got mine, so maybe tomorrow?

Get this alongside your normal breakdown cover and ring em both when you breakdown and see who comes first
  9. harams's avatar
Anyone know of any offers for driver cover so it covers me on multiple vehicles?
    Besford's avatar
AutoAid does that AND covers your partner too.
  10. part2's avatar
Nice one. AutoAid was due to renew this month so cancelled that.

I haven't used Groupn for ages and got a 30% off voucher for logging in so premium came in at about £14.
    Besford's avatar
Auto Aid is far superior to this and still good value for what you get.

Had to use them recently for a complex job (broken down on drive) abd they sent a tech out straight away and then happily provided a flatbed to a specialist repairer a few days later. Brilliant service withour a hint of complaint or argument.
  11. Thislife79's avatar
Be aware that there are excess charges to pay in various scenarios, which could quickly make it much more expensive than Autoaid which is often the next cheapest decent cover.
    Darkraiser's avatar
    Says no excess
  12. bantiuk2001's avatar
They have excess of £35, when I called them back in early May for renewal looking at the Groupon price. Apparently the person on the phone mentioned they are aware the info on Groupon isn't clear and have asked Groupon to make it clear abt excess (so if still not updated and clear on Groupon site then that is worrying...you all know what I mean). Eventually I went with another breakdown company from Groupon that is transparent abt excess policy on the site, even though I paid few quid more, knowing atleast there is no excess in case I need assistance.

While the premium price is good with this offer, the basic price is lousy, as it's offered free by the company directly.

Paid for premium had the free service free last year didn't have to use luckily.

Same organisation has a zero cost product promo, which is about £8.46 cheaper than the £8.46 product faff:

Things like this are only as good as the service you get when you need it. I’ve had good experiences with Autoaid quite a few times more recently and the AA on several occasions many years ago.
