Honestly fed up with this broadband poverty across UK cities, town and villages. Some are getting 1gb we are lucky to get 60mbps (edited)

Blame BT/Openreach, they have a massive monopoly and are dragging their heels in upgrading their ancient network. Coupled with local councils refusing and/or charging a fortune for any civils work to dig up the road.

Don’t understand the need for these speeds, apart from telling people how fast it is (without needing it). Good price though…

As a person who own a console with limited storage. Downloading games which mostly now close to 100gb is crucial to have a very fast time doing so. I can’t afford these ridicules prices of these external ssd nor the time it takes to wait for a game to download. When I ran out of storage I play a game then I uninstall it after finishing and then download a new game. So this 1gb will make the process much much easier

Great customer service. I was locked in at £40/mo till Feb 23 for their 1Gb service and they've let me switch to this deal, despite their website saying I won't be able to. Well done hyperoptic

I was just about to say that same! That bothers me more than it probably should, but it is a difference in the order of 8x so not trivial! They should also be adding /s as otherwise it looks like a data allowance rather than a speed.

I think hyperoptic mainly just target new build estates

I’ve just bought a new build and the show homes at the front of the estate all have hyperoptic boxes on the wall in the utilities but when I search the post code for the estate it says it’s not available. Anyone else had that? I guess I’ll just call them when I move in next month to point out they are in fact on that estate!
    Ktread's avatar
    Ktread
Had the exact same but when I moved it, it turned out we already had all the hyperoptic kit installed so I just needed to phone them and give them the serial number of their kit and then choose what services I wanted. Would have be kind of the housebuilder to tell us this as I'd initially signed up with another provider who was unable to work out why they couldn't set us up - hyperoptic had our address pre registered with them so we weren't able to sign up with anyone else anyway.

Those seem like silly package names, as they missed off the "per second". I thought it was expensive for really small monthly limits.
  15. rogervn's avatar

I tried via web chat and they tried to talk me into that it was only for new customers so I said to cancel my rolling plan and that would make me a new customer, it would just be more work for them. Then the agent asked for their supervisor and they've put me in the promo.

You just have to keep trying, they definitely can do it.

I'm pretty sure this is in response to Community Fibre offering the same btw—I'm not covered by Hyperoptic but I've been with Community for a couple of years, recently renewed and got this deal for 1Gb. I checked Hyperoptic at the time and same package was £35 for new customers. So try Community if Hyperoptic isn't available in your area (in London, sorry) (edited)

same issue here I post £40 a month for the 12 month rolling purely because I’ve been looking at moving. This is from there terms:

    Broadband only service
If you are within your minimum commitment period, the fee will be the lesser of either £20, or your agreed monthly package charge, per remaining month of your minimum commitment period (at the time of termination). Any part- months will be pro-rated at the applicable rate.

You'd think considering we live in a Small Country which is allegedly First World rolling out Hyperopic Fibre cables and 5G would be simple because compared to say America the Whole of the UK is 1/3 the size of Texas but with 1/3 of the population

So we're densely populated especially if we're talking about England that's very Densely populated compared to other Scotland, Wales and NI

When you consider just England were just
130,279 km² but hold most the population (56 out of 66.5) were smaller than
Louisiana what only has 4.66mil people but 5,658 km² bigger it's ridiculous how we have so much money, such little land and such a dense population that most the country doesn't even have high speed internet or 5G, roads full of potholes, streets unclean, etc I'm lucky to get 100mb where I'm at and that's with paying more than what some people pay for 1gb..

    I've done my research
Were apparently just rich as USA but if you look at USA coverage Vs UK whilst considering UK dense population and size, how rural USA can be, If we did a USA style roll out we would have all have 5G basically everywhere years ago

    Much of it gets wasted on corruption, they often call it over-budgeting but it’s usually friends giving each other contracts hence how a project costing £2 billion will end up costing another billion, a £90 billion contract will cost £140b etc;

We should have been on the forefront of fast home internet and mobile service but we lagged behind greatly.

Funny, as an existing customer I can’t see this offer when I log in to their website. They just sent me an email a few days ago offering the 1gb deal for £38. I pay £29 currently for 150mb. I’ll try emailing them to see why I can’t have this offer.

I'd be interested to know how far you get. Over the instant chat function they tried to offer me the 1GB 24 month plan for £33 (I'm currently on the same package as you) but they were adamant that they couldn't offer anything for less than £29 for any package and stuck to £33 for 1GB. I didnt go with it...and am still hoping to find a way to get this deal
